Susan Storm grew up in Glenville, Long Island with her brother, Johnny, and their parents, Franklin and Mary Storm. One night, their parents were in a car accident and Mary died. Franklin turned to alcohol and gambling. He accidentally killed a loan shark and went to prison.
This left Sue to take care of her younger brother as his mother figure. The pair moved in with their aunt and she met her future husband, Reed Richards. Reed and Sue eventually had a romantic relationship. Reed designed a spaceship for interstellar travel and he convinced his best friend Ben Grimm to pilot it. Sue was able to convince Reed to bring her brother and her onto the ship. In space, the quartet were bombarded by cosmic radiation which changed them. Each member gained a super power and Sue’s is invisibility. The team decided to use their powers for good and became the Fantastic Four. She adopted the name Invisible Girl.
Working out of the Baxter Building, the heroes fight super villains such as Mole Man and Dr. Doom. While there are many adventures and many villains, for simplicity, we will just cover the major plot events. One of the major events is the meeting of Namor the Sub-mariner. He is one of the people contended the fiercest for Sue’s affection and she in turn holds a mutual attraction for him but her heart belonged to Reed Richards (for reasons no one can explain).
Reed and Susan eventually get married and many superheroes attend the wedding. The team meets Galactus and his herald, the Silver Surfer. Sue becomes pregnant with their first child, Franklin Richards and the team ventured into the Negative Zone to get the Cosmic rod to ensure a safe delivery of the child. Reed and Susan temporarily separated because of some marital issues that arose but they reconciled.
Susan eventually became pregnant for a second time. However, the trauma brought by her first pregnancy paled in comparison to that of her second for several reasons. This second child was birthed stillborn due to Susan having been exposed to radiation inside the Negative Zone on a previous trip. A depressed Susan was later manipulated by events set into motion by Psycho-Man into becoming Malice. As Malice, Susan attacked her friends and family in the Fantastic Four, utilizing her abilities at power levels she had never displayed previously.
She eventually breaks free of Psycho-Man’s control and rejoins the team. She changes her name from Invisible girl to Invisible Woman. After a rather interesting event, Sue’s stillborn is return to life and palced back into her womb. With the help of Dr. Doom, the child is successfully born. Dr. Doom named the child Valeria since that was the price for his help.
There was a brief time when Sue and Johnny had their powers switch but Reed was able to switch them back. This allowed the siblings to understand each other better. A real problem occurred because of the Civil War story arc.
Although Sue was initially part of the pro-Registration force supporting the Superhuman Registration Act , she defects after the Thor Clone, created by her husband and Tony Stark, kills famed superhero Bill Foster. In the midst of the battle, Sue arrives and creates an invisible force shield around Captain America's Secret Avengers, protecting them from Thor's lightning blasts and allowing them to escape whilst she held him off - developing a nose bleed in the process.
Sue and Johnny leaves but eventually comes back after the war is over. Sue and Reed go off to try and repair their marriage. Hulk, after returning from space, was able to capture the Fantastic Four and caused them to fight in his gladiatorial arena. The last event that happened would be the Secret Skrull Invasion. The Fantastic Four were fighting off the aliens when Sue gets knocked unconscious as the Skrull ship is falling to Earth.
