you take the good, you take the bad...

and there you have the facts of life.

Got back from the trip last night. I had a ton of fun. We flew up to DC last Thursday, then spent all day Friday walking around DC seeing the sites. I got sunburned and my feet/legs have never hurt like that in my life, but it was absolutely worth it. Saturday we moved my mom's stuff into a storage thing and prepared her apartment for moving out. Sunday we got up and dropped Richard and my brother off at the metro station to ride the train and catch their plane. After that we made one more trip to the storage unit, packed up her car w/ our stuff and the dog and headed out for TX.

Sunday night we made it to Gatlinburg, TN. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are like a mini version of Las Vegas, it was insane. We spent Monday on the other side of the mountain in Cherokee, NC. That place was pretty cool, but the trip over the mountain was really the best and most amazing part. We got a ton of pics from both DC and the mountains. Tuesday morning we woke up early and drove to Memphis, TN. We spent a night there, then left really early Weds morning and drove back to Dallas. It was fun, sometimes amazing, aggrivating, exciting and exausting and I don't know if I've ever been more happy to be home, lol.

So today was supposed to be a day to rest from the trip and get ready to go back to work tomorrow. Early this morning I get a text from Meg saying that Harley is doing layoffs starting today. Supposedly the people who were there today would have found out if they were making it. There were 6 people from my dept at work today, 3 of them got cut. Because I had a boss last year who seemed to have a personal issue w/ me and a few other people, he really hurt us on our annual reviews. One of the people laid off today was told that was the reason she was picked to get the cut. Mine was about like hers so I'm really expecting to get laid off when I get in tomorrow. They're giving about 2 weeks severance to the people who're cut and they're (we'll?) be able to get unemployment, so there's that. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. And, I'll post the pics as soon as I get them available.
