So I went to see my nana yesterday and it was pretty bad. She's really unwell and I got very upset (though thankfully not in front of her.) But I spent a lot of yesterday upset and/or driving so I'm not really going to go into details here. Instead I'm going to finally answer a load of comment-questions asked me that I just found in the depths of my email account (my email randomly sometimes assigns an email to, like, 2004 in my inbox. Weird!)
Asked by Strangecobwebs:
1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I think it would have to be Boston.
A certain person and I have already talked a lot about how we would love to live together because we are very similar in our waking habits/cleaning habits/space habits.
Someone else commented on how she'd never want to go back to her own home if that were the case.
I'd also want to move my friends and family from here over too which would prove harder. Though I am "planning" a six-month trip to the US, to be based mainly out of Boston, but to visit other places. Saving money for it at the moment!
2. What's your favorite thing about yourself?
About myself... I'd probably say it was my ability to be witty/funny. I remember being a young teenager and not having that ability and I'd feel so awkward if I was nervous meeting new people. Now my response is to make jokes because if people are laughing, I'm not having to make a proper first impression. Both a defense mechanism AND fun. :D
3. What's your favorite fic cliche, one you'll read over and over again, no matter how many times you've read that storyline in different words?
Oh god - probably Harlequin. Because I'm a giant GIRL. I only want to be made to cry if it's FIXED later and has a happy ending.
Also, possessive-heavy stuff. (I'm flashing back to our conversation last night - not a bad thing. ;) ) Like - not necessarily BDSM? But possessiveness-in-a-good-way.
4. If you could change one thing about your life or yourself right now, immediately and with no consequences, what would it be and why?
I'd give me greater willpower. I'm the fucking quintessential Libra - I live on the pleasure principle. I like things that I like and if I like I want. It's very hard to have self-control in the face of that.
5. If, for the next year, you could only watch one tv show (live or not doesn't matter), what would it be?
That's the meanest question EVER, damn you C. *Ponders* It would have to be...Heroes. Because it's like someone said "Okay - we're going to make a TV show just for you. What do you want in it?" Seriously! My list would have: Individual eps with a great over-arcing story. Superpowers. Time travel. Paradoxes. Cool characters who are different, not just "cool". Mysteries. *clings to Heroes* So that makes it mine.
Questions about my interests by Soupytwist:
And for interests... hmm... damn, you're difficult, cause I know about you! :) Um, david edddings, cause I've never read any of his stuff, rogue squadron, and Malcolm Reed.
I like David Eddings's books that I've read so far. The writing style is - almost childish? As in for-children? But then not. The world he writes is quite compelling though so even though I might prefer a more mature style, they're easy to read and the tales themselves are worth it.
Rogue Squadron! So
the Wiki explains it pretty well, but they're an X-Wing squadron with the rebellion in Star Wars. Then Michael A Stackpole wrote some books about them post-New Republic set up and I LOVE them. The characters, the plots - just YEAH. The whole X-Wing series of books are brilliant. All I have to say is "WEDGE!" :D
Malcolm Reed is from Star Trek: Enterprise. One half of my Enterprise OTP (being Reed/Trip.)

1) Describe your perfect day, if you had all the world's resources available to you by magic.
I'd get up early and so would you (as we both do anyway) and we'd go and have breakfast. Then, once done we'd wake up everyone else and I'd basically spend the entire day talking and laughing with all of the people I love throughout the world. Of course, all of this could pretty much be accomplished by me being able to teleport. It's all about the people, Lizka.
2) What KEEPS you in any given fandom, or Fandom at Large? What do you stay for?
You know? I don't even know. I guess there being enough gay to keep me interested? I would say "the people" but that's not true - because the people I like I have with me regardless of fandom. And when I pick up new people, I take them along too. I remember when you and I were in totally different fandoms (you Due South and me SGA) and we still talked for 3-4 hours on your bed? About fandom and fics and boy-love... :D
3) Describe a near-perfect memory, in detail. :D
You like the hard questions, don't you honey! Okay - there's a few:
- The above-mentioned night with you in Boston - hanging out and talking about stuff.
- Pretty much all of MJ. (You know I still haven't done a report? I should get on that!)
- Being stoned on
ballyharnon's bed saying "Drugs...grapes...BEARD?" over and over again while we laughed ourselves silly.
- Waiting for your lift to get to our floor at MJ. Seeing your face see me and all of that. Totally made months of deviousness and secret-keeping TOTALLY worth it.
- Going out with Laura at Halloween dressed as the Brides of Dracula in dresses/cloaks made by me.
- Sitting in the foyer of the Hilton hotel in Brighton with 10-ish other fans reading OotP at, like, 4am.
Just a few that came off the top of my head.
4) Has music always been a huge influence for you, and why?
Oh god yes. I remember being about 15 and listening to Metallica's Black Album really loud in my bedroom while doing my homework. I grew up surrounded by people singing. If you spend any time with my family you'll know - we all sing. I grew up with music just being this wonderfully fun and join-in-able thing. I also watched musicals at my nana's house a lot.
When I was a teenager I then discovered rock/metal music and it just - to this day it's the raw musicality that I love about it. I love that you have to listen a few times to really like it, but once you get it it sticks. I love that it seems to say so much more than any other type of music. People who write it seem to put so much more of themselves into it and then when they play it - making the music themselves with their own instruments - I guess it feels very personal.
5) How are you JUST that cool? Inquiring minds want to know!
Hey - it's not easy being this cool. It takes long, arduous hours of cool-practice every day and a lifetime of dedication...
Seriously though, I tell people I'm a nerd up front and it's true, but I tell them because it makes it easier for me. I talked above about the witty/funny thing and it's a mask when I'm nervous. I'm basically the same behind the mask, but really I think "cool" in my case would translate as "funny" and that's definitely something I learned. I wanted to be funny and had funny friends and literally just learned comedic timing from them.
Mainly I think that you think I'm cool because you love me. Which I'm fine with BTW. :D
See how I gift you with knowledge of my inner-workings? Don't you feel much more informed now? Or maybe like killing yourself?
Also? I saw the Season 4 preview of SGA and grinned for HOURS. Oh man - I've missed my gay, geeky show. And I've missed my boys! And I've missed my Rodney. It can be September nao pls?
