Game of Thrones, episode 2

How do people who haven't read the books keep up with the show? How do you keep track of the characters? Also, I can't believe how many fundamental changes they're making. Like I stated earlier, I think of the show and the series as completely different entities so I don't care, but they're painting some characters in completely different lights (Drogo! Not quite so rapey in the books! Cat, not pushing Ned to King's Landing!). I find it hard to deal with reactions from people who haven't read the books because I just want to tell them, noooo, reason A is not why character X did Z, haha. The show leaves out a lot of nuances that are in the books, which I totally get because how else would you condense a thousand-page book in twelve hours, but I see people bashing characters for all the wrong reasons and I'm just like aaargh, BUT YOU ARE WRONG. :P

I can't stress this enough: if you haven't read the books but are watching the show, PICK UP THE DAMN BOOKS. You'll be able to appreciate the show much more! It's SO much fun watching the episode and recognizing all the little details they put in the show, and comparing the two.

Lady :( aw man, made me cry. I hated that particular part in the books;
He had never paid much attention to the names the children had picked, but looking at her now, he knew that Sansa had chosen well. She was the smallest of the litter, the prettiest, the most gentle and trusting. She looked at him with bright golden eyes, and he ruffled her thick grey fur.

DSLKMFLDFS;;SDLF. Funny how little I care about Mycah, just a kid, being brutally murdered, and so much about a freaking wolf. It's just that..the wolves are so important to the Stark children (which is harder to pick up to on the show) and in the context of the story, the death of this particular animal is so much more important than the death of a butcher's boy, heh. I was so sad when Arya had to throw rocks at Nymeria to get her out of there, though that was another thing that deviated from the books - I believe Jory found Arya first and they both decided to chase away Nymeria? Not sure.

JOFFREY. I WILL REPOST A COMMENT I FOUND ON ONTD:
‎"The earth travels around the sun, we're all carbon based lifeforms, pi is an irrational number, Joffrey is a little shit."

Ugh. UGH. I know he's been dealt some pretty shitty cards when it comes to his parents (all three of them) but I just.hate.him.so.much. He's easily my most-hated character in the books, which is saying quite a lot considering there are men out there who have done WAY worse things (looking at you, Bolton and Greyjoy clans).

And Sansa. Oooh, man. I feel so bad for her. She has no idea who deserves her loyalty, even though it's clear-cut for us as viewers (CHOOSE STARK!). queenofthorns talked about how terrible the Stark children are prepared for the real world. I get it, because they are NORTHERNLY NORTHLINGS who have no time for such useless things as politics, but jeez, you'd think they'd at least tell their children (A) not to trust anyone who isn't a Stark and (B) PEOPLE ARE EVIL AND WILL SCREW YOU OVER THE FIRST CHANCE THEY GET (at least in their universe). Poor kids. Ned and Cat would be amazing parents in our time (save the beheading of a deserter in front of a child - but you get my point), but in Westeros..eh. Not so much.

AWW YEAH CAT'S GOING SOUTH. This is going to be good.

And holy crap, The Wall. It looks awesome. And who was the short-haired raper Jon and Tyrion 'met' in the woods? I know the long-haired kid was that one singer who turns out to be such a douche in AFFC, but the other one..?

I have to say, I don't really like Tyrion/Peter Dinklage's accent. It seems so over the top! PD is perfectly casted, but eh. And am I the only one who's a little bothered by the acting of the girl who plays Sansa? It's not very convincing..

NOT HATIN THOUGH. Prefering to focus on the FLAWLESSNESS THAT IS ARYA. Did I mention I love her and that she's my favourite character of all time? OF ALL TIME? Because she should be yours too.

Anyway, great episode, I love this show. My only gripe: WHERE THE FRAK WERE BRAN'S GREEN DREAMS? Where's the three-eyed crow? Seeing how she's a huge deal later on, I find it hard to believe they'd cut it out of the story entirely :/
