Television in 2010
Jack stares up through the swaying bamboo and hears something else. Distant. Up in the sky. And then he sees the Ajira plane climb higher and higher. Jack watches as it flies away.
He smiles. The plane is gone, finally free of the island. Jack Shephard has done what he came to this place to do. He has found his purpose. He has found love. And been loved. And he has finally found a way to love himself. The bamboo sways across the blue sky. And Jack Shephard’s eye closes one final time. He is gone.
The end.
2010 WAS SUCH A GOOD YEAR FOR TELEVISION. The most memorable event was obviously the final season of Lost. I watched the first episode live (and stayed up until like, 6am), participating in
ack_attack's Ongoing Lost Post for the first (and also last :() time. I'm a little conflicted over how the show ended (WHAT ABOUT WAAAAALT) but the final episode made me bawl like a giant baby and overall speaking, the final season of Lost has been a very positive and I'M ALL FUZZY INSIDE experience. I miss the show insanely much but I don't think I could've handled another season of its insanity. I keep trying to compare BSG and Lost re: their final seasons because how I experienced them is SO wildly different (hated BSG, loved Lost, even though both shows provided little to no answers to ~major questions) and I've come to the conclusion that I had zero to no faith in Darlton's possibility to actually pull all this shit off, and thus could not be disappointed in the finale, no matter how crappy. At some point during my Lost watching experience I guess I made up my mind it's all good, no matter what. Unlike Darlton/Lost, I had pretty much unlimited faith in RDM's abilities as a showrunner to answer all the show's mysteries, hence my major let-down.
Anyway, JACK AND VINCENT ON THE BEACH. All of them coming together in the Church of Many Faiths! DADDY SHEPARD. Juliet in the series' finale! RICHARD GREYING. dfkldfgls'd';gl;s;'df'dsf''skfkhd HEARTS IN MY EYES.
..as soon as Lost wraps up, Fringe instantly becomes the best sci-fi/fantasy show on the air.
Fringe and Sons of Anarchy are the only shows I actively look forward to every week ever since Lost ended. If Fringe gets cancelled, I WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MYSELF AND MY TELEVISION WATCHING HABITS. This season has been so good (I haven't talked about the latest episode but I am so glad our Olivia is back!). I.. basically can't talk about Fringe without making incoherent noises and wavy arm motions. The only thing I'd like from the latter half of the season is more Walter, but as long as Fox doesn't pull the plug I'm not complaining. FOX, IF YOU KILL THIS SHOW, I WILL HATE YOU MORE THAN I ALREADY DO NOW. Olivia Dunham (the original!) is hands down my favorite character on tv right now and Anna Torv deserves about a billion Emmy's for being able to portray three wildly different yet somewhat the same characters - I don't know how she's able to switch between the personas so effortlessly but she's brilliant.
Cap by
iloveyourglasses as I have no SoA caps on my computer 8|yes. there will be an entire episode where juice reads a harley wide glide service manual... in yiddish.
I didn't love the third season as much as I loved the first two, mainly because I didn't care much about the Irish and "they took mah BAYBEE" plots (LOL at the idea of these guys pulling off a long con with Stahl like they did when they couldn't even find a goddamn baby) and I was saddened by the lack of Tig, but STILL. BEST SHOW ABOUT OUTLAW BIKERS EVER. I'm crazy excited for the new season because it seems like after some distractions (like having your baby STOLEN) it seems like Jax is back on track wrt taking down the Sons. IS IT SEPTEMBER 2011 YET?
“I think Eric the Viking King would be a brilliant sitcom. Probably set in a high school environment. Kind of like an updated version of Fresh Prince.”
Overall speaking I wasn't too impressed by this season save for some AMAZING moments: NAZI VAMPIRES, RUSSEL EDGINGTON, THE LORENA/BILL SEX SCENE. I will not stop watching this show as long as it does stuff like that. Also,
ALCIDE'S BODY, JESUS CHRIST.
We are the walking dead.
HAHA THIS IS SHOW SO DUMB, I love it though!! It's fun and gory, and although the whole ~family values~ thing sometimes gets on my nerves (it's supposed to be R-rated, omg) it's a good show to take one's mind of things (also, what's with them not discussing WTF IS HAPPENING and WHY DEAD PEOPLE ARE WALKING THE STREETS ever??). I'm a sad the first season was only six episodes long, hopefully season 2 will be longer (and less ABC Family show, HA).
TL;DR: TV was good this year. No show that's out right now will top Lost for me, BUT all the shows mentioned above are definitely close runner-ups. I can't wait for the remaining Fringe episodes - but 2011 will be all about HBO's Game of Thrones, negl:
UNF.
