You guys!!! Thank you!!! I have no idea what I did to deserve this, but I have one billion virtual gifts on my profile and I can't seem to stop refreshing and staring and cooing at them all a bit. Seriously, thank you. ♥
Thanks specifically to:
carnilia (I shall have a festive occasion indeed, thank you!),
llaras,
crazybutsound (omg Gabe/William cookies, ♥!),
lyssaphra,
bunniewabbit,
sunsetmog (♥!),
left_of_weir (*hugs* you are such a darling, truly),
bexless,
cupiscent (no lie, I actually saw the tag initially and thought 'hot chocolate, mmm, I only wish it was a mocha,' and then I read your message and totally teared up),
miss_begonia,
disarm_d, and two amazing and wonderful anonymous people who I only wish I could thank directly. You have made me so happy, all of you, I don't deserve such an unanticipated outpouring of love but I want you to know how delighted it's made me.
This weekend was really lovely in all the right ways. I helped my grandmother decorate for the winter holidays, went craft-fairing and gown shopping with my beloved
ipso__facto, ate two of the most incredible meals out ever om nom nom, drank Starbucks four blissful days in a row, and sent out my holiday cards. There was a bit of an issue with stamps, as the post office ran out of everything besides religious-themed postage stamps. I said I would take some menorahs because I could probably pick out enough Jewish people to give them to, only I had already put purple hearts on most of the Jewish people's cards somehow, so if you get a menorah or Kwanzaa stamp and have a "wtf, Jen?" moment, it's because I thought you were cool enough to appreciate mismatched holiday stampery. :-)
The quest for the perfect winter gala ball gown continues.
ipso__facto took me out for some awesome browsing and horrified face-making, and I have a definite back-up if I need it, and a dress that I really love but haven't been able to find in my size yet to try on. I also tried one on that I loved and she loved, but it was purple and poofy and strapless and covered in glitter and we both agreed that I looked beautiful, but also like a Disney ice capades sparkle princess. Not exactly the professional look I'm going for, but so pretty! On the way home from D.C. yesterday I found a dress that literally made my chest do a jumpy thing of this one, and I searched every rack with growing dismay until I found the one gown that they had in my size, but I didn't want to buy it without someone else taking a look first. I came home to show people pictures, but my camera batteries died and my cell phone pictures look terrible and even though I studiously wrote down the brand name and colour, this gown is seriously nowhere on the internet, how is that possible??? and the store won't pick up the phone to talk to me. So. That's in limbo at the moment until I decide to drag someone along with me to York and talk myself into dropping $150 on a formal dress. It's so gorgeous, though. I don't look like a Disney ice capades sparkle princess, I look like a Bond girl. But with a better sense of self-worth.
If you haven't been out shopping in east-coast America recently, OH MY GOD, THE NINETEEN TWENTIES ARE BACK. It's awesome but also incredibly surreal in that I walk into a store and feel like I've just stepped through a time portal into a speakeasy. There are long knotted strands of fake pearls and black feathers on shoes and fringed flapper dresses and veiled hats. I know this time period, I thought. I have done research on all of this before! So it's a great year for a '20s theme party, just FYI.
I have half a dozen fics open right now in tabs. You do not even know how excited I am about this. OMG YOU GUYS, NEW BANDOM FIC, EEEEE. *rolls around in it* I cannot wait to dive in and read it all.
I would keep bubbling gooily at all of you, but I should probably stop for now and come back to giggle and squee some more later. I hope everyone is having a splendiferous start to their week. ♥
