I can't remember the last time I painted with oils
Things I noticed while painting:
- It feels weird not to clip back my hair as part of the prep. I've had my hair super short for two years now. This tells you how long it's been...
- I can barely remember how to mix skin tone. But I think I got it, and it'll be better the more I practice.
- I can't for the life of me remember which white is cool and which is warm. I think Zinc is cool toned, but dear god I don't know...
- I need to use less paint.
- It's kinda like riding a bike, you never really forget. You just nearly forget.
- Everything I paint is an amorphous blob.
- My college education was absolute shit when it came to teaching technique. I have no idea what the hell I'm doing and I hate it. Maybe I wouldn't make amorphous blobs if I knew how to handle a paintbrush correctly.
- When a painting comes together it is the best feeling in the world. It may be just one tiny little perfect brush stroke, but soon enough you're running around the room, arms in the air like you just scored a touchdown. That's why I paint.
