Black Bean Sandwich Spread

Oct 05, 2010 13:17

Since the other post is a huge block of rambly text I figured I'd do a new one.

Those bean balls? Horrible as balls, delightful as a sandwich spread. So. Good. Since I wasn't going off a recipe really, here is one for them:

- black beans, mashed (mine were the beans I reconstituted so no added salt or anything)
- cumin
- paprika
- cayenne pepper
- chopped onions (I used dried ones I had)
- garlic salt
- little bit of olive oil (from the failed frying attempt)

Everything's added to taste. A lot of cumin, very little cayenne and garlic salt.

I basically stuffed it all into a ziplock bag and mashed it with my hands for a while. Letting the mixture sit overnight is probably what helped this out since everything got to infuse and the onions soaked up the water from the beans and reconstituted themselves.

I shoved it on bread with the weird smoked cheddar cheese and some yellow mustard. Om nom nom.

food is good
