Though behind masks you hide,
Your pain I see,
And even though you will not confide,
Beside you I will remain to be,
For while wars are fought for vanity and pride,
Some things are worth fighting for-nothing comes for free,
Your life you have devoted to pages of ink and pain,
So you thought to distance yourself-who needs a heart anyway?
The truth is you’re afraid of that heart you thought slain,
Fear of bonds that will bind you and never go away,
But I tell you this now, and I’ll try to be plain-
A life without love, is like night without day.
Deny it you may, but this I know true-
The day we met flames burned as if by fate,
And from that fiery forge chains of friendship and then love grew,
You should know by now, the shackles have been made-it is already to late,
The bonds have been welded and your heart resurrected anew,
First friends then brothers then lovers-all bonds you swore to hate.
But try as you might, you have not the will to break away,
Look in my eyes now-could you really tell me farewell?
I remember that night well, the night you learned I lived on,
The light of your eyes grew brighter, and hope continued to dwell,
Why keep lying to yourself, let the pain of the past go,
Masquerades are for dancers, let fall your iron mask and shell.
We’ll keep walking this road until our destinies are through,
And though I know not your real name I know all that is true,
You are bound heart and soul to me, and I will forever love you.
