We met in the strangest circumstances… I haven’t ever heard of anyone other than a summoner and guardians making it through the Cloister of Trials. And you didn’t even know me. I couldn’t not love you for that. I was so elated by becoming a summoner, and I felt… special, because that hadn’t ever happened for anyone else. You didn’t even know me - you didn’t even know what a summoner was - but you still wanted to protect me.

From the first time I saw you, you gave me hope. You were always sure that I could defeat Sin, and you believed that so strongly that I became sure as well. Then you found out, and you didn’t run. You said there had to be a way to save me. And then I began to think that maybe… maybe there was a way. Maybe we could be together forever.

No one but Rikku thought that there was another way to defeat Sin. Lulu told you to stop running away from reality. Sir Auron had seen your father, my father’s other guardian, vow to find another way to defeat Sin, and he failed. Kimahri wanted me to do what I wanted to do, and Wakka… Wakka thought it was blasphemy. He didn’t want me to die, but if living meant going against the teachings of Yevon… But you kept looking for a way. I could never find the words to tell you how much that meant to me.
