“Reks, you have to pick your favourite colour out of these,” Penelo said, passing him three similarly-coloured pieces of card.
“Uh, why?” Reks asked.
“My mum says I can redecorate my room and I can’t decide which I like best,” Penelo explained.
Reks looked at the cards. “Er… I like the purple one best.”
“They’re all purple, dummy,” Penelo objected.
“No, that one’s violet and that one’s mauve,” Reks said. “Don’t you listen in art?” Penelo scowled.
“So I should paint my room this colour?” she said, pointing to the favoured one. Reks thought about it.
“Maybe you should use lilac instead,” he said.
“That’s a plant,” Penelo said.
“It’s also a colour,” Reks explained in the tone one uses for a toddler. Penelo resorted to her usual way of sorting out his attitude and whacked him.
