She’d come to the Universe of the Four Gods as an innocent. The Jade Emperor had made sure of that. She was naïve and exuberant and full of laughter, and he was often amazed that her happy disposition remained unchanged by the righteous anger that sometimes filled her on behalf of her friends.
He’d posed as Tai Yi-Jun and done his best to guide her on her quest to summon Suzaku. He hated letting her - forcing her to - return to Japan, knowing it would be a lifetime for her before he could see her again.
However dopey and cheerful she was, however many times she tripped over because her head was up in the clouds, the Jade Emperor couldn’t curb his affection for the mortal girl. So as often as he could, he stepped in to cushion her fall.
