I came into work early today. There's an abandoned office that we have the key to that has a window that looks over the portage. I'm the first one in, so I take the key, lock myself inside, drink my morning cup of tea and read the news. This is great. Looking at the portage in the morning reminds me of the Island when we'd camp there.

I found this new paradise where I'd like to spend all my time. We're recording at the Parsons' farm up in New Allouez just past Calumet. They grow all their own food, for the most part. There's pond that's already warm enough to swim in. There a big red dog named Otis that loves snuggling and two fat farm cats. Our studio is set up in the loft of a hundred-plus year old barn that creaks and lets in bird sounds during the day and frogs at night. We drink good beer, always. There's a basketball hoop and white cement court that gets warm. There's a family of geese. There's orioles and red winged blackbirds. Yesterday I ate a pasty and drank pop out of a 2 litre bottle.

We've finished drums, guitar, bass, and mandolin this far. The most recent bounce just knocked me out. I can't believe I get to put my name on this. Jesus christ. Where am I.
