Yesterday we reunited Mom & Dad, on the 57th anniversary of their marriage in the Catholic Church. We always celebrated May 24, 1952 (the day of their civil marriage by a Justice of the Peace) as their anniversary, but they were both proud of the fact that my Dad converted from a Southern Baptist to a Catholic, so they could be married "in the eyes of God".
Might be considered crude humor and TMI ,but we (Marls, her son Billy, my Cayla & Liam, Mom's brother Al and his wife Fran) all stayed to watch her coffin lowered into the watertight crypt (the good quality crypt, she had joked!), and then the crypt lowered into the ground. As it went down, we realized that we could see the walls of my Dad's crypt. Marls quipped "Lookout Daddy...Mom's coming to sit on your lap!". My kids were just amazed at just how close they pack them in there. Like sardines. Which is okay, cuz Daddy loved sardines.
