At “Kotatsu DE Arashi” filming, how did you feel about the old you?
I only remember it in fragments, so…. I felt like I was watching someone else, when actually it was me. Especially, when I watched the “human-bird” from Mago-mago Arashi.
For me, I took a long time to do that particular episode, so I remember myself answering that challenge, but I’ve completely forgotten my weird statements. I feel embarrassed but still… (here, Nino who was being interviewed next to him commented “I have no memories of the human-bird”. Aiba heard that and he said so Ninomiya could hear) “Yeah, it was moving, the human-bird!, It’s a fond memory (laugh).
Do you think that, “this side of me has grown up”, as time passed?
No, I don’t think so! Hahahaha (laugh).
(laugh) This year you’ve done new kinds of jobs, such as narration.
That’s right. Now I’m doing a TV program called “21 nin no wa”, and next year I’ll be doing “Nihon Retto” (Japanese Archipelago). I’m very interested in both works. I’m happy I’ll be narrating for the film. Is it weird to say I’m happy? There are people who are appearing in the film, there are people who took the videos with their cameras. My voice will be added to something that various people are putting their thoughts into. Predictably, it again makes me value each and every word.
Recently in Vs Arashi, you suddenly challenged yourself to replace Sakurai-san who joined the guest team, as the host. It was so much fun to see that hasty performance.
Yes, I did. Everybody helped me in setting the mood. At one point, they united and made fun of my MC. But, yeah, I could overcome that thanks to everyone. I enjoyed it. I think I was able to pull of my chaotic character because I was with other members who were also in their usual characters.
The usual MC was not there, so we were like “who’s going to do it? Who’s going to do it?” and I was like “I’ll do it” and it got chaotic. That is the good part. I also want to be more chaotic in the future (laugh)
What word or kanji would you use to describe this year?
Eh…maybe ”kibou” (T/N: hope) or “zenshin” (T/N: forward)? With the will to move forward with strength from now on also.
Do you have anything new you want to challenge yourself with in 2012?
At any rate, I’m interested in everything new to me. But I’m not emphasizing only on new things, and I think what I’m doing right now is wonderful. We have concerts in January, and I think it is better not to reset with the beginning of new year, but instead, doing it with the same energy from before.
This year, what do you think is the most beautiful scenery you’ve seen?
It must be the scenery during our concerts. I also think that the concert itself is a Beautiful World. It’s not that there’s only one Beautiful World, there are a lot of them. I believe it’s a matter of how many we could recognize. Next year also, I think there will be a lot of beautiful worlds come tumbling down, and I would like to find many of them.
Who is the most beautiful member of the year?
All of them are always beautiful, you know (laugh)

Now that I think of it, the first time I went to location, it was with Sho-chan. I remember that very clearly, thank you (laugh).
I went to locations for that show with Riida the most. We often had to spend the night there. So at the time, we often ate together, thank you.
To Nino. we’re doing baseball together now, and we have the same uniforms, thank you, I think.
And to Matsujun, every time I catch cold, he’s always so fast in giving me medicines. To me, he’s like my medicine-box (laugh). Thank you.
