I saw Batman last night and I"m not sure if I liked it or now. At points, I found myself wanting to fall asleep - but that could be because I was up at 7 a.m. and then went disc golfing on a mountain for 4 hours and then went to the beach for another few hours. Pretty crazy awesome intense day.
Anyway, Batman. Here's a few things that annoyed me: (SPOILERS)
1)It's just not physically possible for Bane to be cooler than the Joker. Nothing really beats a villain that is totally evil just to be evil. Bane had his motivations but they weren't really that clear. So, the bad guy in the first movie wanted Gothem to be put into this crazy police state? That's giving control back to the people? I don't know.
2)Catwomen isn't really Catwomen because of cats. She's just a cat burglar - nothing more. There's nothing special about that. Doesn't really explain why she can fight so well, and maybe this is truer to the comics, but I didn't expect her to be ally to Batman. Also, their romance seemed a little forced.
3)The soundtrack was way too intense ALL of the time. There could be nothing happening in the scene or a really quiet conversation between two people that isn't particularly dramatic but the music would be booming and violins would be chugging away like there was a bomb about to explode or something. I would have appreciated more silence for those scenes...or something less pulsing.
4)I want to know how Batman was able to get back into shape SO fast after 8 years of being out of the picture. It looked like he was in pretty bad shape with having to use a cane and all, but as soon as he's back in the suit, he's kicking ass again. Sure, at the end he was working out to get ready for that last battle - but that was only like a period of a month or so. Can he really get back into shape that quickly?
5)Lots of scenes of tons of police officers running around. I wanted to see more Batman and less of Gothem's finest coming to the rescue. A majority of the movie is just shots of police officers rushing to the scene or crawling out of tunnels or going to war.
6)I feel like most of the action/fighting scenes were far less creative than previous movies. The first movie, Batman has to use his stealth to get around and remove the bad guys. Second movie, the chase scene in the tunnel with the joker practically blew me away. This movie, we get the motorcycle chase which was slightly anti-climactic. We get our glance of the "Bat," but that's it. Boom, he's gone. There should have been something that could have stood up to that machine but he was pretty much invincible inside of it. After all the bad guys have access to the special equipment that Batman originally had, I thought more stuff would go down.
7)No mention of the Joker at all. Did that just never happen? Did they totally forget about him? They talked about Harvey Dent an awful lot to just forget about the Joker. The Harvey Dent events were happening at the exact same time, so to make no mention of him seems a little odd - especially if we still are seeing villains from the first movie.
8)Bane should have been shot. Is there a reason why nobody tried to do this? It doesn't show him as being bulletproof or anything. He was out in public plenty of times for him to be taken down in an instant. He's just a man after all! Where are the guns!
9)Bane's voice was somewhat annoying. He didn't look like he should sound like a mad scientist. Why is he strong? Why is he so smart? What specifically does his mask do?
10)Robin?
That's all I've got for now. I'll have to re-watch it to get a better idea of how I like it. I was totally enthralled by The Dark Knight, but this movie seemed like a bit of a chore to watch at times.
