Wow. Just... wow. I watched it first in lecture (I would have skipped lecture if she didn't take roll, but since she does, I just took my laptop and enjoyed myself). I just finished watching it a second time now in the comfort of my room, and I have gathered my thoughts about it

I also liked the little things like the rune by the door, what does it stand for? And the poetry reading scene was also nice. I initially thought a recitation from memory would have been more impressive, but that would have been more appropriate in Rohan.
It's true that the orcs would not canonically have said Sauron's name, but Gandalf found out that Sauron was what was wrong with Dol Guldur in 2850, so Sauron's whereabouts haven't been a secret for eighty years. The holdup at this point is getting Saruman to move his arse, and that's what won't happen for a little over a decade.
They corrected the Ring of Barahir! Did you notice? They could have bought a replica of the LotR movie prop and nobody would have blamed them for using what was readily available, and it would have been a lot cheaper, but they didn't, they designed their own, and it's loads more accurate. (Although for something that is meant to look good after more than 6000 years, it seems rather fragile. Too many bits sticking too far out.)
I also really liked Elgarain. She kind of reminds me of Eowyn.

I think that the rune on the door was a letter, though it may just be assigning the houses; perhaps the letter of the man's name? It was Cirth, I know, though which letter I'd have to look through the book and then go to the film again.
Oh, really? Thanks for letting me know! I don't have much information about the timeline memorized before Aragorn's birth XD I didn't realize it was that early.
I would disagree about "loads more accurate" and rather it being a different artistic interpretation since one *is* devouring and the other has some sort of gold thing on it... and they do have eyes not the same material as the silver (or so it looks from a pic I'm looking at), but the movie did decide to add the green gem in the middle.
I do agree about it looking very fragile XD That is one thing I like about Jackson's Barahir- it definitely seems thick enough to survive 6000 years.
Elgarin was a great character. I liked her side plot.
