AU: The only difference with Fred is that she kept her soul after she died in season five (5.15 A Hole in the World).
Timeline: Just after dying, 5.15 A Hole in the World.
Personality:
Fred may look like a tiny girl. For all intents and purposes, that is what she is, but she has great strength. She's a survivor to her core and does not give up. Things are not simply written out. She does not believe in fate. It's how she knows she has to keep fighting. And that is what she does. No matter what the situation or the odds, she has to keep going even if everything is systematically taken away from her, including her sanity.
This makes her determined. She's skilled and extremely intelligent. She's also resourceful, having once made a machine made to decapitate out of a toaster and an axe. It worked, too. She's also passionate about what is right and wrong. She judges people by this and if you are allied with her, she'll go any lengths.
Fred is also a great judge of character because of this, but it can also be a fault of hers. She trusts explicitly, even if it gets her hurt. It doesn't make her naive though. She can see through people's motives. In season five (which is not included in her canon for Silent Jersey), Spike tried to charm her into doing what he wanted, she went along with it because she knew he was reformed, not because she was actually charmed.
Feeling loss deeply is another one of her downfalls. Her reality and the fact that she has people is what keeps her sanity. Her need of being needed drives her. She almost left Angel Investigations when she thought she wasn't needed. Her biggest fear is death, doing something unfulfilled. Seeing as she is coming post-death, her world may be shattered again.
She is the heart of Angel Investigations, even if she says it's Cordelia. She's passionate about everything she does and doesn't stop. She isn't necessarily a fighter by nature, but one thing Fred learns to do is adapt. She is not loud or overly pushy, she isn't gaudy. Fred holds people close to her. She isn't materialistic as such.
Fred also is a genius. She was a physics major prior to being sucked in a hell dimension. She's worked on algorithms, wrote a paper, and is quite good with engineering. She also uses her weaponry skills. She tends to think outside of the box and is sly. She uses the illusion of her small stature as an advantage. The tiny woman may not look threatening, but she's learned from the best when it comes to fighting.
There is a side of her that does reflect what she looks like. She is kind and soft. Fred is a caregiver, she can be meek. But people shouldn't confuse that with weakness or naivety. She likes caring for people. She wants to be wanted, but she will be respected. She is more than capable of holding her own if need be. There's a duality that exists between her. What one expects and the exact opposite.
She's caring to a fault, knowledgeable, and a fighter. Fred does what needs to be done without taking no for an answer. Nothing or no one can tell her what to do and that is always how she's lived. It's why losing things never works well with her. She fights until she dies, literally, which is why that is her true fear.
History:
Fred grew up in Texas the first eighteen years, completely unaware of what was happening in the world around her. Vampires and demons were mere myths. She was hidden from that world and was a typical teenager, though being a pot smoker and a conspiracy theorist were two things she was as a teen.
It wasn't until she went to LA for school that she found out about the evils that lurk just at the edges of the city, in the dark. Her physics professor, jealous with how intelligent Fred was, opened a portal to a hell dimension that left the young woman trapped there for five years. She was a slave in Pylea. Humans were treated like cattle and slowly her sanity diminished until she was nothing but a crazy genius scribbling on cave walls.
That is where Angel came in. Because Cordelia, a friend and coworker of his, wound up in the same hell dimension, Angel and the gang went to Pylea to save Cordy, but wound up with Fred as well. They took her back to LA and nursed her back to health; she only ate tacos for months. After which she became assimilated into their life.
She fought demons and vampires, and started a relationship with Charles Gunn while him and Wesley Wyndam-Pryce fought for her affection. Meanwhile Darla, Angel's ex and maker, appeared, and after doing the dirty she became pregnant with Angel's son. She died giving birth to him. Angel and the gang were left to raise the baby. Only Wesley thought Angel was going to eat him and so accidentally handed his son, Connor, to a vampire hunter.
It was revealed that Fred's professor was the one to trap her in Pylea after she published a paper on transdimensional travel. He tried to trap her there once again. Hell bent on killing him herself, Fred went after the professor, but Gunn got to him first, and trapped him in a hell dimension. Their relationship was never the same and eventually it ended.
And then the Apocalypse started. Connor came back as a man, slept with Cordy, squicked out the rest of the team, a big baddie came romping through LA, and then Cordy got pregnant with an Old One, a demon god. She gave birth to Jasmine and soon the world fell to her, everyone except Fred who touched her blood. One by one she got to the rest of the team except Connor; he was a lost cause. Angel ends up destroying Jasmine and as such was offered the entirety of Wolfram and Hart, a law firm that specialized in handling demons as clients. They allowed all sorts of evil to continue. Angel only agreed to this if his son was safe, and no one had the memory of him, no one except him. So Connor does not exist to Fred.
Fred became the head of the science department at Wolfram and Hart. It was hard justifying this, but she did a lot of good. She helped save a lot of people, and she even recorporealized Spike, the second vampire to have a soul. And finally she started dating Wesley.
But their relationship was short lived. Within two days, Fred was dead. A sarcophagus was shipped to the science department and when it came into contact with her, her body started dying. Her organs melted, essentially. Everything overheated, and it was a painful death; her entire body was on fire. In the arms of the man that loved her, she took a pained breath with her lasts words being, "Wesley, why can't I stay?"
And that was that. Or so she thought.
Abilities/Powers:
Fred doesn't have any powers, per se. She's a simple human who has learned to adapt. Her skills include weaponry and basic engineering. She can fight and build whatever she needs to.
Sample Journal Entry:
I'm pretty sure this is hell. I guess I always thought I'd end up in the other place, but then maybe Angel was right all along. I just thought hell was on earth, you know. We go through all that only to end up here. I'm not exactly happy about it, and I feel like I got a fever still. [She looks down, away from the video, not wanting to actually talk about her death. Fred is going to avoid it if she can.]
Just always assumed it was better on the other side, right? But then you know what they say about assumin'. [She pauses, resolved on not making this a completely depressing video.] But then maybe my callin' isn't over, yet. There's more to do or something. I needta believe in something, right? Otherwise there's no point in anything, and I refuse to believe that. I don't care if this is hell. I'm still me. I still have my soul and I won't let anyone take that. Not even whatever it is that killed me in the first place.
At least it'll give me somethin' to do. Seems like most of you don't come from my world anyway. Got a whole new rule book to learn here.
Sample RP:
Her body still burned to the touch. Even after she awoke, the petite woman was still clutching to the side of a house. The contents of whatever was in her stomach, mostly bile, was sprayed allover the pavement. Slowly she sunk to the ground and just sat there, trying not to vomit again.
She couldn't remember how she got there. Fred rested her head against the house and breathed. It felt weird, this not dying feeling. Sure, her body was still getting used to it. Everything was still on fire, but at least she could breath. But she remembered taking her last breaths. She was in Wesley's arms, asking him why she couldn't stay. Fred remembered dying, remembered the pain, and the fear. Most of all she remembered the fear.
Fear of the unknown, because there was nothing anyone could do. Fear of being taken away from the people she cared about. Fear of losing everything she had again. Tears dotted her eyes as she thought about it. She wiped her eyes slowly. Sitting there, wherever there, for hours on end would not help her in the long run. She needed to find people and shelter and eventually food. She really hoped her body started feeling better.
Slowly, she raised herself from the ground, at least with a goal in mind. That was a start, and for a dead girl, that was good enough.
