conversations

A long pause, and i wonder if she'd heard me at all.
"Nobody's ever said that to me." The words slide accidentally from her lips, like drops spilling from a glass filled to the brim. I feel my voice grow gentle and drop low, to a tone reserved solely for her as my grip tightens around the one thing keeping me connected to her at this moment.
"I'm only telling you the truth." i finally assure her, my words flowing from my end to hers, intended to caress her -- as distance won't allow me to. We both close our eyes and breathe. In the darkness, sight is unneccesary; in those moments -- with hundreds of miles between us -- our breaths matched and our hearts sped together, beating as one. I see myself in front of her, faces only inches apart.
Space does not exist here.

Silence continues, yet i hear her voice ring inside of me, more clear than anything i have ever heard before.
