I JUST GOT A JOB AT OXFORD UNIVERSITY PRESS!!!!!!
So, yeah, I've been quiet on the RL front, because I've been crazily busy with applications and interviews. Everything went a bit wonky about a month ago, when the massage therapy course I'd been planning on doing (I know, total change of direction, lol) got cancelled because they were one person short. Well, since it seemed like it was a transitional time for me, I just thought, sod it, I've always wanted to work in publishing. I had a brilliant boost from a friend's mum who works at OUP, and she gave me loads of advice and encouragement. I tried for about a year to get a break in publishing after I left university, and I thought I'd have to give up on it forever. She gave me the push I needed to give it another shot. And I did. And in three weeks I'll be starting as a Project Controller for the company I've always dreamed of working for 8-O
There's some kind of message here about never giving up on your dreams, about going and grabbing them with both hands and making them happen for you. There's a verse about listening to Serendipity when she comes a-knocking. There's a whole chorus of 'Semper spes, numquam trado'. I'm sure there's more, but right now I'm incoherent with joy :D :D :D
