Jin is a singer and he desperately needs a dancer for his upcoming show. Kame is a dancer and he has some trouble with bad guys. The two meet and hate each other but they have no other choice so they make a deal.

“Ok, this was strange. Admit it, Jin.”

“What?” Jin asked playing innocent as he stopped the car in front of the house and opened the door.

Kame got out and walked towards the house. “Why did you buy those things? You don’t even need them.”

Jin chuckled and gently pushed Kame forward. “I just felt like it. You wanted to go shopping. Don’t blame me now.”

Kame clicked his tongue. “But I didn’t tell you to buy the entire shopping center, you know. Why don’t you just…”

Jin turned around to see what made Kame stop so abruptly.

“Jin.” the boy whispered and his eyes widened in horror.

“What?”

“Jin, I know I left the lights on. In the kitchen I left the lights on but now they are turned off.”

Jin circled his arm around his waist. “No, I’m sure we turned it off, Kame. Don’t worry.” and he was already unlocking the front door, tugging the younger man with him.

“Jin, I’m serious, we didn’t turn them off. I remember clearly… what if…”

“Kame, don’t worry, the guards were here.” Jin pushed the boy inside while he was fumbling along the wall to find the switch.

“But… but…”

“Don’t worry.”Jin switched the light on and Kame jumped back, clutching the singers shirt tightly.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!”

Kame gaped at the sight. In the large living room there were at least twenty people, smiling widely at him and cheering loudly, shouting his name repeatedly.

“Happy Birthday, Kame!!” Ueda yelled at him, standing next to Yamapi and Koki. Ryo was standing a bit further and Kame recognized a few persons who had been working with him in the past few weeks. Then there was Nakamaru and some boys whom Kame knew since high school. Kame didn’t have a lot of friends but those who were close to his heart were all standing there in front of him.

“Jin…” Kame turned to the singer, still not able to recover from the shock.

Looking a bit embarrassed, Jin smiled at him shyly then threw his arm around the boy’s shoulder and pulled him closer.

“Tonight is your night, Kazu. Enjoy.” he whispered into Kame’s ears and rubbed his arms gently before releasing him.

A smile finally found its way on Kame’s face as he looked into Jin’s eyes and he felt the urge to hug him tightly and kiss him breathless then and there but it was impossible with all the guests around them. So he just smiled at him and raised his hands a bit to touch the older man’s hand so carefully that the others couldn’t notice anything.

“Kame, Kame, come here or else we eat your cake and don’t leave anything for you.” Koki shouted, putting the tray on the table.

“What??? Don’t you dare to eat my cake, Koki!!! I’m coming!” Kame yelled laughing and when glimpsed the cake on the table his jaw dropped. “Oh, god… how many people are we still waiting for?” he groaned looking at the huge cake.

“Kazuya, dear!” a young woman shrieked, standing at the door. Everyone went silent and looked up in surprise as she was the only woman in the house, not to mention she was beautiful.

“Miyako???” Kame slowly put his plate down and approached the girl. “Miyako…”

“How nice of you that you still remember my name.” she chirped and smacked the boy’s head lightly. “Kazuya, you left your mouth open and hug me already. Do I have to beg you?”

Kame smiled widely and embraced Miyako who hugged him back tightly.

“What are you doing here? When I call you you’re always so busy.”

“Well… if Akanishi Jin asks me to come to a party at his house I can’t possibly turn him down.” the young woman flashed him a not so innocent smile.

“Oh, so you didn’t come to see me. You’re painfully straightforward just like always.” Kame sighed dramatically and earned another smack on the head from Miyako.

“Ne, Jin.” Yamapi stepped to his friend, who was chuckling cheerfully at the scene between Kame and Miyako. “If I didn’t know she is his cousin, I would be jealous.” Yamapi teased Jin.

Jin just nodded toughtfully but when he realized what Yamapi said he turned to him, ready to ask something like ‘Why should I be jealous? It’s not like there is something between us.’ when a loud and happy voice cut him off as the last guest finally stepped in the house.

“Iriguchi, deguchi, Taguchi desu.” the tall men yelled.

“He is here.” Yamapi stated the obvious and clicked his tongue. “You could have warned me, Jin. I need to be prepared if I have to listen to his jokes the whole evening.

Jin giggled and walked away to introduce Taguchi to Kame but he seemed to be late as Taguchi was already shaking Kame’s hand with a huge grin on his face. Kame was shocked at first but as he started talking with the tall man, he realized that it was impossible not to like Taguchi.

Jin sighed contently as he was watching Kame. Everything was perfect. Kame apparently had fun, walking around, chatting with everyone, grinning widely. Their gazes met from time to time and Kame shot him gentle smiles which were silent ‘thank you-s’, Jin knew and the thought made him extremely happy.

After a few hours everyone seemed to be still enjoying the party and Kame felt relaxed and he was grateful to Jin. He didn’t remember the last time when he enjoyed a party so much. He walked to Jin who was standing in front of the glass door, eyeing the guests in the living room. Kame smiled at the singer but when he looked out of the window, he frowned.

“Jin, Jin!!!”

“Hm?” Jin stepped closer and turned around to look at the direction of the pool where Kame pointed.

“What are they doing?”

Jin leaned closer and tried to focus to see better. Ueda and Ryo were standing next to the pool, Ryo was seemingly explaining something with big gestures, he seemed to be angry, while Ueda just shook his head every now and then, brushing through his hair in frustration.

“It seems like they are fighting.” Jin said.

“You think so…?” Kame asked, still frowning.

“Kame, Jin! Come here, I tell you a story about Nakamaru, which you haven’t heard yet, I’m sure.” Koki yelled, trying to escape from the laughing Nakamaru, who was determined to stop Koki from telling everyone about the most embarrassing story of his life.

Jin chuckled. “I think they get along well.”

“I want to hear! I want to hear the story.” Miyako shouted as she dragged Taguchi with her to sit down between Nakamaru and Koki.

“Your cousin is just like you.” Jin said, startling Kame who just stared at him, surprised.

“Re-really?”

Jin laughed at his expression. “Definitely.”

After an hour or so they were still laughing at Koki’s funny stories when the sound of shattering glass and angry yelling cut them off and they all turned to the direction of the noise.

“YOU BASTARD, YOU DESERVED IT.” came the loud cry from a very furious Yamapi, followed by a painful groan from Ryo who was lying on the floor, wincing with his hands on his bleeding nose.

“Yamapi, what the hell…” Jin stood up, staring at his best friend in shock. He had never seen Yamapi this angry.

Three men moved at the same time to help Ryo to stand up, but all of them were stopped by Yamapi’s voice. “Tatsuya, don’t you fucking dare to go close to him.”

Ueda winced at the harsh words and stopped, looking at Ryo carefully and not really knowing what to do.

“Pi!!!”

“Yamapi!!!”

Jin and Kame said at the same time but they were ignored as Yamapi crouched down and grabbed Ryo’s collar, leaning close, his eyes filled with anger.

“Listen to me, Nishikido because I won’t repeat myself.” he hissed into Ryo’s face. “If you, do you hear me, if you hurt him in any way once again, I swear I will make your life a living hell. I swear I will.” with this he released Ryo then he stood up and stretched his hand to Ueda.

“Come on, Tatsuya, we’re going.”

Ueda shot a last worried look at Ryo then he hesitantly stepped forward and let Yamapi to take his hand and drag him away.

Yamapi stopped in front of Kame. “I’m sorry to ruin your party, Kame.” he said and before anyone could blink they weren’t there anymore.

Jin rushed to Ryo’s side and helped him up. “Ryo. What the hell was that?”

Ryo shook his head and chuckled bitterly. “He was right, I deserved it.”

“What did you do to deserve that punch, Ryo?” Kame asked as he handed a sack of ice to the older boy.

Ryo sighed and stood up. “I’m sorry, Kame, I didn’t mean to make a scene or something.”

Kame shook his head and tried to smile comfortingly. Ryo smiled back, not too honestly though, and shrugged his shoulders. “I better be going.”

“Wait, Ryo! Don’t you tell us what happened?” Jin asked as they followed the man to the front door.

“I’m sorry, not now. Kame…” Ryo stepped closer to the boy who eyed him curiously. “I never meant to hurt Tatsuya.” he said quietly and disappeared as well.

Jin and Kame exchanged glances, not really knowing what to think of the whole situation then they went back to the guests.

“But… do you think Tat-chan is fine? He looked so… lost.” Kame babbled as he was walking around the living room, collecting the empty plates and glasses the guests had left.

Jin turned around with bottles in his hands, which he was planning to put in the cupboard, and approached Kame. “Pi is with him. I have no idea what happened to those three but we can call them tomorrow from the airport, ok? Now it’s better to let them calm down.”

Kame nodded and looked at Jin. “Jin, thank you. Not counting Yamapi punching Ryo, it was a really nice evening.”

Jin smiled and leaned to place a kiss on the boy’s cheek. “Did you have fun?”

Kame smiled. “Yes. It was my best birthday ever.” he said honestly with a faint blush on his face.

Jin pecked his lips. “Happy Birthday, Kazu.” he whispered then turned around and walked away with the bottles.

“Wait, wait!!! Don’t put them away. I want to drink.”

Jin chuckled and raised an eyebrow. “I don’t think it’s a good idea.”

“But I didn’t drink anything the whole evening.” Kame whined.

“And I think it’s better this way.” Jin retorted but he felt his heart soften when he saw Kame’s puppy eyes.

“But it’s my birthday, Jin. I want to drink something. Please…”

Jin sighed and gave up. Then he started smirking as an idea formed in his head. “Ok… let’s play a game.”

Kame frowned. “What do you mean?”

The singer put the bottles on the table. “Choose one. But not the strongest one, ok?”

Kame stepped forward and after thinking about his choice carefully, he picked up a bottle of peach-flavored vodka and waited for Jin’s approval. The singer rolled his eyes but didn’t protest.

“It’s not the strongest one.” Kame glared at him with innocent eyes.

Jin sighed and picked up two small glasses. They sat down on the floor around the low table in the living room, Kame on one side, leaning against the sofa and Jin on the other with his back against the armchair.

“Rules” the singer exclaimed as he put the glasses down. “I ask you a question. If you answer me honestly, you can drink a shot. You can pass, of course, but if you don’t answer you can’t drink. After you answered the question and drank then it’s your turn to ask. Clear?”

Kame nodded quickly. “But don’t think you can make me embarrassed. I won’t pass. I’ll answer your every single question.”

Jin chuckled and poured into the glasses. “Same hear. May I start?"

Kame nodded once again.

“Ok… What do you think of me?”

“Eh? What kind of question is this?” Kame’s eyes were wide and he was already red up to his ears.

Jin smiled at him. “This is my question.”

Kame licked his lips. “I think… you’re spoilt and egoistic and you think highly of yourself.”

“Kameeeeeeeee.” Jin whined.

The boy rolled his eyes. “Ok… you can be attractive sometimes.”

Jin groaned. “That’s all?”

Kame blushed harder. “Well, you didn’t say I have to tell everything, you said I have to answer honestly and I didn’t lie.” he answered and emptied his glass with one gulp. “My turn.”

Jin couldn’t help but smile at boy’s childish face.

“My question is…. have you… have you ever done it with a man before?” came the quiet question from Kame.

“No. You were the first.” Jin said simply and drank his share of vodka in no time.

Kame’s eyes widened. “Impossible.”

Jin smirked at him arrogantly. “Oh, are you implying that I’m so good you can’t believe it was my first time?”

Kame’s face flushed again and he quickly poured vodka into the glasses. “I didn’t say that. It’s your turn.” he said quickly, earning an amused laughter from Jin.

“Same question” the singer said without any further explanation and narrowed his eyes.

“Well… no, it was not my first time with a man.” Kame replied, not caring about his blushing face anymore as he could feel that the alcohol started working in his system.

Jin hummed silently and watched as the boy gulped his share of vodka.

Kame fidgeted a bit then looked at the older man. “When did you realize that you like me?”

Jin faked an indifferent tone. “Who said I like you?”

Kame giggled and palmed his face as his head strated to feel heavy. “Yeah… yeah… and you just jumped on me because you hate my ugly face, didn’t you?”

Jin burst out laughing. “Ok, ok. I think the first time I felt really… strange when you pretended falling off the stage.”

Kame giggled more at the memory.

“But I think when it really hit me was when we slept together for the first time. I mean when we slept in the same bed” the singer finished smiling softly and he emptied his glass once again, grabbing the bottle to prepare an other round. Kame was deep in thoughts and he looked up in surprise when Jin placed his glass in front of him. “My turn.”

Jin watched as the boy eyed him curiously, waiting for the next question and he decided to finally bring the game to an other level. “How did you meet this Johnny?”

Kame was surprised at hearing a question, his expression changed to nervous, seemingly considering the possibility to pass but then he just sighed. “So that’s what it was all about.” “It happened one year ago when I was working in a… night club. One night someone stole the boss’ money from his office and they thought it was me because I never had money” Kame let out a bitter laughter. “They didn’t believe me when I tried to defend myself so they brought me to an empty alley near the club and beat me up pretty badly and…” Kame tried to find the right words but then just blurted out. “and they almost raped me when someone appeared and helped me. He… he threatened them with a gun and they left me then I passed out so I don’t remember what happened after that. When I woke up I was in Johnny’s dirty cellar. He said his men saved my life and that he payed the money to my boss, so now I owe him. I had to stay there and work for him.”

“But… you had nothing to do with that money.” Jin was beyond furious.

Kame shook his head. “Yeah… but no one believed me. I had to do what Johnny said, I had nowhere to go and I had no one to turn to.”

Jin swallowed his anger as he watched the boy drink his vodka with a large gulp.

The younger man hesitated a bit as he was thinking about his next question but then he gave in to his curiousity. If Jin wanted to play the game this way then he was in.

“Who is that woman on that picture?”

Jin looked up in shock, not knowing if he had heard Kame well. “What… picture?”

Kame tilted his head and looked at the man with a gentle smile. “The one in the room next to yours.”

Jin’s face paled a bit and he gulped hard. “You’ve seen it.” he whispered in disbelief.

Kame nodded. He felt ashamed and he was sure it was the alcohol that gave him the courage to press on the issue. “So who is she?”

Jin’s shocked face turned to unreadable as he raised his glass, staring at the liquid and before he pressed the glass to his lips he answered in a low voice. “My mother.”

Kame stared at him. He didn’t expect this and after hearing Jin’s rather emotionless voice he was sure that the story behind it wasn’t the happiest one.

The singer filled their glasses once again and faked a smile. “My turn. So… Johnny was one of the men who had sex with you?” he asked bitterly and Kame was getting a bit scared where this game was heading to. Jin was nervous and upset and the younger man knew he had crossed the line.

“Jin…”

“What? You won’t answer, will you? You’re not telling me.” Jin snapped at him and Kame bit his lips and looked away.

“No I’ve never had sex with him.” he said in a low tone and Jin just snorted, signaling to Kame to drink his shot of vodka. The boy obeyed though he could feel the knot in his stomach. Jin filled their glasses once again, not looking at the younger man, just waiting for him to ask.

Kame knew he could change the uncomfortable atmosphere around them and just ask something stupid, something insignificant and the singer would just smile at him and everything would be fine. But he couldn’t stop himself. He knew that Jin was hiding something and he needed to know. He needed to know why Jin was so upset and he needed to know what kind of relationship was between them.

“What happened to your mother?” he asked in a low voice, not missing the pain that the singer’s eyes reflected at that moment.

Jin pursed his lips and shook his glass a bit to make the liquid swirl. “Dead.” he replied and raised his glass but Kame stopped him.

“That was not the question…”

“Then I pass.” Jin exclaimed in a firm tone, lowering his glass to his lap and staring at it blankly.

“Jin…” Kame started in a soft tone but he was cut off.

“I said I pass.” the singer almost yelled, making Kame shudder at the harsh voice.

Jin raised a hand to brush through his hair in frustration and Kame noticed how they were shaking. He knew he had to say something to break the silence. The tension was so high that it was almost unbearable. Kame opened his mouth to say something when Jin heaved a long sigh and started to speak in a hushed, shaky voice.

“Do you want to know why I care for you so much? You’re wondering why I helped you, why I paid your debt and why I want you by my side. Do you want to know?”

Kame just watched the singer, holding his breath.

“My mother was being beaten by her boyfriend. They were together for almost a year and during that time my mother was continously beaten up and I didn’t notice anything. There were no bruises on her face because that bastard was careful not to hit her where it could be seen. When I asked her why she was limping or why she couldn’t raise her arm, she said that she fell or she had sore muscles or her waist was aching. And I believed her… I have no excuses. I wasn’t a kid at that time, I should have seen it… but I didn’t…” Jin’s voice died and Kame bit his lips hard. The man’s voice and face told everything. He was feeling guilty. Kame resisted the urge to hug him and waited for Jin to continue.

“One day she got beaten up so badly that she died. That bastard kicked her so hard that he broke her ribs which pierced through her lungs then he let her bleed to death.” The singer’s voice was full of hatred and anger now and Kame’s heart clenched.

“That was how I found her… Since then I’m not able to watch anyone, who is important to me, to be hurt. I want to help them because I couldn’t help my mother and I don’t want history to repeat itself. That is the reason why I helped you, that’s the reason why I paid your debt and that’s the reason why I’m afraid every time you step out of this house without me… but… that’s not the reason why I want you by my side…” Jin paused before he continued quietly but firmly, still looking at the glass in his hands. “and definitely not the reason why I fell in love with you.”

Kame’s heart skipped a beat and he froze, just watching as Jin swirled the vodka around in his glass for the last time before he drank it with one gulp. Kame tried to speak but his voice was only a silent whisper.

“What did you just say?”
