Riding Lessons

“Are you sure about this, Benny?”

“Yes, Ray. Proper preparation is very important otherwise you might strain yourself.”

“Yeah, well, I’m going to end up with sore muscles.”

“You’re enthusiastic, Ray, that’s not a bad thing.”

“It is when you’ve never done it before.”

“After the few times you’ll be able to relax much more quickly and you’ll be able to set the pace.”

“I know that but I’m not used to the position.

“Give it time, Ray and it will feel perfectly natural. Let me help you with your leg there.”

“Thanks, Benny.”

“How does that feel, Ray?”

“Okay.”

“Mounting is often the trickiest part.”

“That’s true, you’ve got to work out where your arms and legs go.”

“Yes. Now all you need to do is apply some gently pressure with your heels.”

“Woah!”

“Not too much, Ray, you want to take things slowly.”

“Okay, I think I got it. How’s this?”

“Very good, Ray. Now aren’t you glad I suggested you make sure the tack was properly secured before you mounted? It makes the experience much more enjoyable.”

“Yeah, and thanks for the tip about the talcum powder so it doesn’t chafe.”

“My pleasure, Ray. Now are you ready for your first riding lesson.”

“Yeah, Benny, there just one thing.”

“Yes, Ray?”

“This riding isn’t going to make me too sore to do our other riding is it?”

“You never know, Ray you might pick up some invaluable techniques and you know I’ve always wanted to share a mount with someone.”

“Are you suggesting we make love in the back of a horse?”

“That’s an interesting idea, Ray but I think it’s important you master the basics of rising first.”

“Whatever you say, Benny. Where are the brakes on this thing again?”
