Title: First Kiss
Word Count: 100
Pairing: Rory/Jess
Prompt: 001- First Kiss
This is it. After what feels like a lifetime, she is his to touch. No more tall shadow looming behind her.
He feels alive for the first time in forever. Heart pumping, blood rushing, synpses firing, alive. His shallow breaths must be affecting the oxygen levels in his brain because he can't think, can't say anything that isn't remotely stupid. He thanks God she seems to be as breathless and dumb as him.
He leans in, until he can feel her breath on his lips and her hair brush his cheek. His fingers tremble.
Finally.
BAM!
Enter Luke, stage right.
Title: Final
Word Count: 99
Pairing: Rory/Jess
Prompt: 002- Final
It has never felt over, not truly.
Not when he went back to New York, or when he left for California.
Not when he told her he loved her, when he asked her to run away with him, when he showed her his book.
So why should Philadelphia feel any different?
The difference is that she is starting to look forward to the familiarity of their hearts brutally and briefly smashing together.
She fears that one day he won't return. After all, she was the one to walk away last time.
Maybe it's her turn to re-enter his life?
Title: Numb
Word Count: 100
Pairing: Rory/Jess
Prompt: 003- Numb
Jess tells her he loves her, and she feels nothing. Not happiness, or anger, or disappointment, but a definite lack of feeling, an emptiness of emotion that leaves her wondering if her heart has begun to beat in a vaccuum.
It is a sign only of how much he has destroyed her, she knows. She understands, deep down, that this is Jess’ greatest apology, greatest admission of his soul. But she cannot allow herself to feel that, because she’s fine. Fine, fine, fine. And she has moved on. To Yale.
She goes to bed, and falls asleep, and never cries.
Title: Broken Wings
Word Count: 99
Pairing: Rory/Jess
Prompt: 004- Broken Wings
He writes about sad little birds with bent wings that can’t get off the ground, but the guys won’t publish them and make Finding Nemo jokes. He doesn’t even know what they represent. It could be him, unloved and emotionally stunted, believing since childhood that he could never make be anything. Or, it could be Rory, too afraid of rejection to follow any path other than what her grandparents planned for her.
He dismisses the idea that it could be both of them; the broken foetus of their relationship, their version of Donne’s flea. The idea makes him nauseous.
Title: Melody
Word Count: 100
Pairing: Rory/Jess
Prompt: 005- Melody
Sometimes, she will be eating dinner with her mother in Luke’s, or drinking coffee with Lane, or talking to Dean, and suddenly a CD will appear by her elbow. His little magic tricks have taught him stealth and subtlety, or perhaps the other way round, and she never sees it coming.
The bands are usually alternative, a little rock, the kind of music over which Lane practically wets herself. She listens to the lyrics and tries not to read into them. Lorelai would say it was his way of worming his way into her world, so she doesn’t tell her.
