woodpecker
On the way to work this morining I spotted a pileated woodpecker. It was sitting, pecking at a tree stump, right at the corner of Grissom and Country club, not more than 3 feet from the road. So I stop the car and grab for may bag brfore remembering that I put my camera sefely away in my top dresser drawer yesterday :(
(and my co-worker asks 'how did you spot it?' It's not so much a matter of how I spotted it, it's more 'oh my god, look at that bird!' when talking about woodpeckers)
Again I miss what would have been a really awesome bird picture. Yesterday I found a nest of mockingbirds in a holly bush in front of the vet school; I was waiting for a ride home and heard their raspy little baby squeaks. Unable to resist a peek, I managed to get a picture with my cell phone, but it would have been *much* better with a real camera.
I know the camera is safer at home, but I miss so many good pictures this way!
