Notes pslightlypsychoactive: so it turns out you can do the same things with items as Pokemon
pslightlypsychoactive: so each one of our precious little Kyurems is holding a Sacred Ash
sinnohliepard: This should not work. Why does this work.
juliennefries: Pokemon and people are just collections of elegant formulas.
juniperusunoviana: Technically speaking, yes, but...
pslightlypsychoactive: honestly the item formula isn't very elegant
pslightlypsychoactive: it's sixteen bits
pslightlypsychoactive: but i agree with the general sentiment :D
Iris looked at the Recover Ball skeptically. “You’re sure about this?” Cynthia nodded. “Well, here goes!” Iris released Kyurem, and the Pokemon shook and shuddered. Briefly Kyurem was ensconced in white light, and then in Kyurem’s place was a Beldum. “Whoah.”
Cynthia smiled. “And we didn’t even have to use up the original Sacred Ash!” She tossed the bag at Iris, who caught it. Beldum looked up at them, confused.
Iris considered the bag, and touched the Pokeballs by her side. “...I should bring this back to Johto.”
Cynthia shook her head. “I’ll have Black bring it. We need you here, to rebuild the league. If you’re willing, of course.”
“I guess I could take on the gym again. It’s been a while.”
“Someone else can handle the gym. I’ll do it, if I have to. I want you at the League.”
“...Oh.” Iris blushed, and jumped up in the air, pumping her fists. “Yes!” She landed and winced, lifting her left ankle and shaking it around. “This better heal soon.”

“Hi, Kotone.” Silver stood at the foot of her hospital bed, seeing her for only the second time since the attack on Kanto. She lay peaceful in a bundle of medical equipment; she had not moved since she was shot. “I brought a couple of friends for you to meet. We’re going to take a journey through Kanto and Johto together, since they’ve not spent much time here. I met them through Cynthia, which is how you know they’re good people but bad influences. To your left is Julie, who I met on an airplane.” Julie sat on a small hospital chair next to Kotone, watching her breath. “Behind me is Black, who used to be the Champion of Unova. I guess I know how to pick them?”
He took a deep breath. “I’m sorry that I couldn’t protect you.” Black took his hand, and Silver nodded. “I’m sorry that I couldn’t protect our friends, our neighbors... anyone, really. I want you to know that things should be better now. My new friends and I... We did what you did, when we were kids together. What I couldn’t do. We stopped Team Rocket.” He closed his eyes, and Julie got up, gently pulling Silver’s other hand out of his hair.
“I’ll write, and,” he said, choking on his words a bit, and then he said nothing. Julie and Black made eye contact, and nodded, guiding him out the door to the hotel room, Black whispering something in his ear and reaching for Crobat’s Pokeball. Eevee jumped off of Kotone’s legs and onto the floor, looking back up, and then followed the three out into the hospital hallway.
Very slightly, and very briefly, Kotone smiled.
