[ Current Status ] Wanting to break down and cry
Why do people on this world insist on being stupid and not listening?
In the last two days, I've been opening at work and doing full days, and I swear all the stupid people decided to come out just to see me. Knowing my luck of late, it's probably true *chuckles* So many people ask me for a discount on games that are already heavily discounted. Example - GTA - San Andreas on PS2, as a pre-owned game retails for $89.95. At the moment it has a special 25% off, which makes it about $67, so a whole $33 off the price. Customer comes in a brings the case in off the shelf and asks for the price, and I tell her. She asks to see the condition of the disc, which I do happily. This version was as if brand new - the person who traded it to us had received it as a present, and didn't want it. Anyways, I explain this, and the customer thinks for a moment, and proceeds to ask me "Can I get a discount on this because it's pre-owned?" I explain that it already has a huge discount on it, and say I cannot reduce it any futher, and let her know that if there is any problem, she can bring it back for a refund. Customer re-tells me that it's a pre-owned item, and she'd like it to be reduced futher. Again I explain I cannot reduce it, and explain that it's almost half priced for something that's practically new. Customer stops and thinks for a moment, and without a word just walks out of the store.
Indeed, sometimes I don't agree with some of the prices on some items, and would love to reduce the prices for some people, but they just don't seem to understand that no means no. I could discount them if I really wanted, but the big bosses monitor and watch every transaction we do every day, and if there's one discount or reduction that's not allowed, I get either a large reprimand or a fine, and move one step closer to getting the boot. Basically I explain to the more pushy customers who don't let up, that it's a choice between them having a game, and me having a job, and there's no way I'm losing my job over them.
I just don't get it really. I don't understand why so many people have the drive to get the best price, the biggest bargain, so much for so little. I've even had someone come in and purchase one item over another because it was $0.10 cheaper. It's beyond me why people can be so tight, and so pushy - becoming insulted when they're told no...I mean, come on guys...
Fuck, I don't know, I just needed to rant. Too much shit in too short a time, and I needed to vent. I just want to curl up and cry - too much shit building up, and no way to release it
I need a hug, but I used the one Steph had for me last night. I should have saved it for tonight instead *frowns*
