I had a surprisingly good time during the latter part of my shift at the supermarket last night. I was splitting the delivery - one of the most boring jobs EVER - with Ethna and Sophie. However, it soon picked up a little when we started conversing about all sorts of things, including what sorts of neighbours we have to deal with. Apparently Sophie is known around her area as "that crazy psycho lady" because she doesn't take any shit from her troublesome neighbours and has a habit of going round and shouting at them. She had a pretty psychotic gleam in her eyes when she was demonstrating, actually. XD Apparently she has had to deal with a family who have wild parties every Friday night, teenagers who sit on her driveway, and a woman who never parks on her own driveway, only on the road, and backs her car up onto her (Sophie's) driveway every morning. According to Sophie, the fact that this woman actually started applying her mascara whilst backed up onto her drive was what sent her into a crazy rage. XD I mean, really - putting on your makeup whilst on someone else's drive is pretty fucking cheeky.
Me & Sophie both concluded, however, that Ethna lives in a rather... interesting area. Well, she said that its a generally quiet area, aside from the few interesting characters that come along occasionally. Apparently, there's a kid who lives there with his parents who seems like a little bastard based on what Ethna told us. This kid gets a kick out of lying to his parents, and it seems that he's going to grow up to be a wanker considering that he has a tendency to abuse animals. >_< Well, he did on at least one occasion, when he kicked Ethna's cat. >:( Naturally, this sent Ethna into a rage, and she shouted at this kid, telling him that she was going to tell his parents about this. How did the kid respond? By going to his parents and claiming that Ethna threatened him and told him to "fuck off"! On another occasion, the same kid claimed that Ethna's own kid had beaten him up - which was another pack of lies. Apparently, the kid's mother defends him all the time, but his father knows that he's a lying little git.
Another neighbour of hers is a woman who is known to cheat on her husband by bringing home random blokes she met on the Internet and shagging them. Apparently her husband came home one day to find her in bed with some other bloke, so he left her, only to come back after a long absence, only to find her involved with some other random guy (or it could've been the same one, I can't remember if Ethna specified this or not). So he threw this guy out and moved back in with his wife.
Ethna must live down Soap Opera Way, or something. o_O
Now I know what to do if I have trouble with any of my neighbours: call Sophie and Ethna round to sort them out. XD
At my other job, Lynne gave me some information on this abandoned village that she and her partner visited for the day, after I told her about my interest in abandoned places the other week. Apparently it was evacuated during World War II and they were supposed to allow the villagers back in afterwards, but for some reason it just stayed abandoned and fell into ruin. She said that I'd have to check online to see when the village is open to the public, because it is under control of the Army and they sometimes close it so that they can use it for shelling and the like.
I am so going to go there someday. Not sure how, seeing as neither me nor Euan drive (yeah, he has his motorbike/scooter, but he isn't qualified to take me as a passenger yet, and, to be honest, I'd feel nervous about riding on it), but we'll figure something out. Maybe I'll pester one of my parents to take us down sometime. XD
My mum is pissed at my dad again (why am I not surprised?), because he's being a tight-fisted git with the money he's supposed to give her monthly. It's probably so he can help pay for his and Juliette's extension and stupidly expensive new kitchen - it makes me laugh that he was all "oh I have no money whine whine whinge whinge" at the same time he had an expensive honeymoon in India and then went ahead with his house extension. Oh, and he bought a sporty new car. I do love my father, but he can be a dick sometimes. In his defence, though, my mother really shouldn't be spending money on all these clothes and shoes that she hardly wears, if at all.
Oh, drama llamas.
*TMI* I think I'm turning into my mother. I keep having to go to the loo every half hour. */TMI*
In other news, I finally started some of my film reviews/ramblings/speculations today. I keep saving the file after every sentence/mid-sentence due to this laptop's habit of switching itself off all the frelling time, and going back to it after the computer's had one of its hissy fits and I've allowed it to cool down a little.
I also need to write out the rest of my thank-yous for the wedding gifts we recieved. I'd best get round to it soon - then I can post them either later or tomorrow morning.
Bye bye for now.
