Crusty trousers

I've got this really odd sort of pain in my chest. I don't really know how to describe it - it's sort of a hollow feeling? I think it's due to all my coughing, but I'm not sure. It usually hurts whenever I swallow, oddly enough.

Meh. At least I haven't been coughing as much as I did yesterday. I really think that Buttercup Syrup is paying off.

I had this customer randomly come up to me and casually chat about the lack of a hook (for hanging) on the container of a certain brand of shower gel, and then, upon noticing that I had a cold (the fact that my voice has been sort of croaky probably gave it away), said that she hoped I got better soon. Hey, it's nice to have a friendly customer every once in a while. :) It makes a change from the "it's all your fault that this item isn't in stock/is no longer sold here/is no longer manufactured at all/that I'm blind as a bat and can't see this item that's right in front of my face!!" morons. XD

I had a bit of a dilemma in the baby food aisle. I was quietly tidying the shelves in the nappy aisle, when this man came up to me and informed me that there had been a breakage. So, I went to the baby food aisle to find a smashed jar. The man's female partner apologised, so I assume that she must have accidentally knocked it off. I said that it was okay, and that I'd get the janitor to clean it up.

After asking the security manager to page one of the in-store janitors to the aisle, I felt that it would be best to wait by the breakage, just in case any customers failed to notice it and ended up damaging themselves. Whilst I waited, I thought I'd do a bit of tidying. However, since I have been known to be a clumsy bastard, I ended up knocking another jar to the floor. The whole thing smashed, and the food spurted all over my shoes and up my trouser leg. >_< It just had to be the really gooey one, didn't it? XD

Fortunately, right at that moment, one of the janitors happened to be approaching, so he cleaned up the mess and let me have a cloth to clean the gunk off my uniform. Yay for crusty trousers. (.....And that sounded rather rude. o_O;;)

T'was my mother's last day at work today - at least, until she starts her new job later this month. Apparently, she was crying at the thought of leaving. Well, she has been there for 18 years, if not longer.

In other news, I bought myself a nice blouse from a charity shop. I also saw this cardigan in there that may have worked for Rose Da Silva cosplay, but it was too big for me. Ah well.

cosplay, decent customers, illness, cold virus, i have the dumb, mother, work, oh the pain
