So these are books I've read. Yes I took this from phil thanks
Beowulf- too primal for my liking
Achebe, Chinua - Things Fall Apart -I liked the message in this book and not the actual book.
Camus, Albert - The Stranger
Camus, Albert - The Plague
*Camus is amazing - one of my favorites. I'm into existentialism, I think it has a sturdy foundation.
Chaucer, Geoffrey - The Canterbury Tales -I mean who hasn't read this?
Chopin, Kate - The Awakening; This is a good book. Even if you're not really into literature, it's about an old woman trying to get her some ass. So its about a lot more, but if that's what gets ya to read the book, so be it.
Conrad, Joseph - Heart of Darkness-I wish I understood this better.
Dante - Inferno - Decent and interesting read, but the summary at the beginning of each chapter really get ya the whole story.
Dostoyevsky, Fyodor - Crime and Punishment; interesting book about a man who thinks that there is a such thing as a superman theory. Yes people do wrong and should be punished, but what if there is a man that disobeys the laws but for a greater good - to benefit humanity - is he above those laws? It how he deals with trying to prove this theory and how that works out. Great but difficult read.
Douglass, Frederick - Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass; Classic history book - one of those things everyone (or every history major as myself) has to read.
Emerson, Ralph Waldo - Selected Essays; yea i've just read this.
Fitzgerald, F. Scott - The Great Gatsby; awesome awesome book, one of my favorites. Don't watch the movie in lieu of the book though.
Golding, William - Lord of the Flies
Hawthorne, Nathaniel - The Scarlet Letter; would have made an awesome short story.
Hemingway, Ernest - A Farewell to Arms; read this for an english class freshman year at loyola. ehhh.
Homer - The Odyssey
Hurston, Zora Neale - Their Eyes Were Watching God. "They got tuh go tuh god.'; Amazing. Absolutely. Read it.
Kafka, Franz - The Metamorphosis. Interesting with a good lesson/moral kinda.
Lee, Harper - To Kill a Mockingbird; Again, a classic.
London, Jack - The Call of the Wild; Didn't like this so much no.
Melville, Herman - Moby Dick; ehhh.
Miller, Arthur - The Crucible; I only like this book because shortly after I was in Salem, MA and got to go to the witch museums and stuff - that was cool.
Morrison, Toni - Beloved-I did not like this book. Like for real.
Salinger, J.D. - The Catcher in the Rye; Another classic.
Shakespeare, William - Hamlet
Shakespeare, William - A Midsummer Night's Dream
Shakespeare, William - Romeo and Juliet
Shakespeare, William - Othello
Shakespeare, William - Julius Caesar
Shakespeare, William - Twelfth Night
Shakespeare, William - King Lear
Shakespeare, William - Henry IV Part 1
Shakespeare, William - Henry V
Shakespeare, William - A Winter's Tale
Shakespeare, William - As You Like It
Sophocles - Antigone
Sophocles - Oedipus Rex
Steinbeck, John - The Grapes of Wrath - Hating reading this until I was done.
Turgenev, Ivan - Fathers and Sons
Twain, Mark - The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Rand, Ayn - Atlas Shrugged
Rand, Ayn - The Fountainhead
Melville,Herman - Billy Bud
Kerouac, Jack - On the Road
Burgess, Melvin - Smack
Chbosky, Stephen - The Perks of Being A Wallflower
Washington, Booker T. - Up From Slavery
