I was going to post something important, and then I forgot about it. So, we have a couple of things:
- I'm going on holiday for two weeks starting Tuesday :D Yay. Or, sort of, because the last time we went to this place it was one of the worst weeks of my life. But that's a long and horrible story for another time. I should be able to get onto the net a couple of times during the stay. I hope to make art, write more of the script I'm writing (and also fanfic), and read all seven books I've bought for the occasion:
Amy's Holiday Reading List:
Wintersmith by Terry Pratchett - because I still haven't read it yet *bad fan*
Affinity by Sarah Waters - because I loved Fingersmith, and really liked The Night Watch.
Torchwood: Border Princes by Dan Abnett - because it was only £4.99, and I'd like to find out why everyone hates it so much.
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne - because I've seen it around a lot and am very curious.
The Constant Gardener by John Le Carre - because the film made me cry and cry and cry.
The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham - because I wanted to read something that doesn't sound like it was written in the last decade.
The Mortal Instruments: Book One by Cassandra Claire - because I'm a weak person :(
Last year we went for a week and I read Uncle Tom's Cabin, because I felt there were things I should have a better understanding of. I enjoyed it mainly because it took me a whole week to read. When you've the capacity to rip through three or more short books in a weekend, you relish the meaty ones like this, the ones you have to really chew on. I think it's that the styles of writing in the past feel pronouncedly different to contemporary ones, so it's refreshing.
- I think it's fitting that on 07.07.07 I was on till 7 for the whole day at work :D
- Oh, I watched Miss Potter with my sister the other day, and it is almost unbearably cutesy. We made up for it by eating chocolate and giggling about the 'mustachioed children' Renee Zelweger and Ewan McGregor were going to have, even at the 'tragic' bit. And going 'awww!' a lot at the silly fumbling old people in love.
Myself: Hello, he has brothers with scary facial hair.
Lilly: Just like him! All their family seem to have completely weird hair.
Myself: I know! Even Millie's is all froufy.
Lilly: Be glad, Beatrix. You were spared from marrying into the terrible hair!
Myself: Actually, I think she's already joined them...
- Thelma picspam before I go on holiday, I promise!
- Oh, and I'm going to the zoo on Monday :D
