i've been doing well at living with just the essentials, infusing minimalism into my life. i am able to get by with much less than i thought. my sanity [due to my bank account finally being leveled out], has been revived.
yesterday, i was all ready to go buy supplies to make an epic salad for the party, and my car wouldn't start. i seriously have the worst car karma, ever. rather than freak out, i called bridget, and she helped me decided to switch parks last minute. so we all met up at cal anderson, drank bellinis, sat in the sun, ate grapes, orange chicken from teapot, and these amazing chocolate chip cookies that juliana w baked, talked and caught up, then later in the eve played baseball. i couldn't remember the last time i played, but i surprised myself by getting a hit off nearly every pitch thrown my way. bonnie brought two bottles of arbor mist, put that in her nalgene, and dubbed it the team "gatorade." there was no way i was touching the stuff. i didn't bring a camera for the day, but i feel as though i should have. it was worth documenting. my birthday month just keeps getting better.
yesterday, aly and her parents delivered her old dining room table [wood, painted red], coffee table [sea foam greenish], and a cd shelf. she's too gracious, and we adore everything. we now have more furniture! our apartment isn't so bare. kate and i both immediately decided we need a pretty vase to go on the dining table, so we can fill it with flowers and make the apartment seem more like a home.

i lost my boyfriend to comic books this week.
i'm currently obsessed with wanda jackson's music. why on earth had i never listened to her before?
