Posting this before the hustle & bustle of tomorrow makes me forget.
Caught Oprah earlier and they featured this story that was really amazing. Here's the gist:
As a child, Rani was sold into human trafficking in South India. A year and a lot of emotional & physical trauma later, she was sold again through illegal adoption and ended up in the US, raised by an elder woman who passed away when she was 16.
Meanwhile, at the age of nine, Trong escaped life as a child soldier in Vietnam because his dad sent him off on an overcrowded ship bound for god-knows-where. The ship was taken over by people who killed the men & raped the women. He survived through all of this only to have the ship sink and be marooned on an island inhabited only by monkeys for 6 months.
The Indonesian government finally rescued him and put him in a refugee camp and he then somehow ended up (and grew up) in the US.
The two of them went through such similar traumatic experiences and somehow, years later, they met on a blind date and are now married with four kids.
They now own a business and use the profits to help fight human trafficking.
This whole things sounds so fucking impossible, especially the part about the monkeys. But, I swear, it was on Oprah.
Un-fucking-believable. Grabe. Makes you believe that there really is a cosmic churva at work somehow.
Strange, too. Lately, it feels like a force is pushing me (heck, practically slapping me on the face) to start believing in something. I dunno, positive thinking or a higher being or whatever.
Basta. All these signs lately. And I feel myself becoming receptive.
Gads, does this mean the angsty girl is going away for good? But I kinda like her... Mwehehe =p
Lord. It's way past my bedtime.
