Over on
Dokuga last night there was a Drawble/Drabble night. It was a lot of fun and I guessed the theme! (I'm proud 'cause I've never done that before) Due to time-zone issues, I wasn't able to stay until the end but here are my drabbles!
Button
Miroku smirked as his usually polished, poised professional boss remerged from his office. The demon’s hair was rumpled, his tie askew and he was missing several of the buttons on his bedraggled shirt.
Sesshoumaru’s gorgeous bride - who had recently arrived in a foul mood and accosted Sesshoumaru - now wore a triumphantly saucy smirk, a devious twinkle to her gaze.
“Did you want something?” Sesshoumaru’s starkly irate gaze should’ve made Miroku tremble, but he couldn’t quite pull off his usual menace when flyaway hairs were flirting with his lashes.
“I was wondering where Kagome-san’s hair-pin had vanished to,” Miroku replied cheekily.
Bleeding
Punching a wall in frustration was never a smart idea, but he’d rather unleash his ire on something inanimate than on his infuriating half-brother. If it wasn’t for his promise to father...
Sesshoumaru nursed his bleeding knuckles.
“Did you pick a fight with a wall?” a teasing voice cut in.
He spared Inuyasha’s cheerful best friend a scathing look. “Yes.”
“Wow,” Kagome murmured, brows arching, “I didn’t expect to be right.”
He growled, expecting her to leave. The girl astounded him when she pulled out a stack of plasters.
“Here,” she flapped it at him, “a klutz is always prepared.”
Heart
The hanyou fell limp onto the floor at the graceful demon’s feet. Sesshoumaru carelessly shook his claws free of the half-breed’s innards.
The miko dropped to her knees at the brat’s side as she inspected the damage.
“Do you have a heart?” Kagome choked out. She couldn’t comprehend doing anything to harm Souta.
Eyes narrowed dangerously. Who was she to question his motives? Did she realise that each time he saw the boy he was forced to relive his father’s perceived rejection?
The real question was why he cared that she looked at him with such abhorrence in her eyes.
Honey
“Sweetheart,” Kagome tried it out. Sesshoumaru wrinkled his nose at her.
“You will not call me such.”
Kagome grinned enjoying herself now. “How about... darling?”
“If you call me darling I wont be held responsible for my actions,” he countered dryly.
“Okaaay,” Kagome drawled, “What about; my love?”
Sesshoumaru actually snorted. “In casual conversation? It’s a tad melodramatic.”
Kagome sighed, throwing her hands into the air in exasperation. “Fine, what about honey?”
His glare was flat and affronted. “This Sesshoumaru is not sweet.”
His sour demeanour made her bristle. “Fine, vinegar it is then!”
Sesshoumaru’s thunder stolen, he blinked mutely.
Suckle
Her ire bemused him. He had indulged in a simple curiosity, but he had not expected her to react as such. Apparently Inuyasha’s miko was unpredictable.
“Why should I have a mate... or a husband?” Kagome harrumphed.
“Many of the village girls are younger than you and wed,” Sesshoumaru pointed out.
“I’m only seventeen!” she grumbled, flapping her hands as if embarrassed. “And who says I need to be married?”
Sesshoumaru recoiled at the mention of her age. A demon of a mere seventeen summers would still be suckling its mother. Suddenly, the wolf’s interest in Kagome seemed positively diabolical.
Snap
With dazed eyes, Kagome watched Sesshoumaru snatch up the demon hovering over her and Rin. He held the lesser demon by his neck, between his thumb and forefinger for a torturous second. And then he snapped his neck with the ease he had once demonstrated when he snapped one of her arrows.
Kagome gulped, drawing Rin closer to her chest. Right now, as red haloed his irises, she was very glad to be an ally. She knew the horror the felled demons must have felt all too well.
And then his glowing red eyes swung in her direction.
Oh my!
