pho duh
I like to randomly learn something new every day. Today I learned that Pho does not rhyme with bow, it rhymes with duh. Thank god for wikipedia, it makes me teh smrt.
For those of you (people from NC) that aren't familiar with this stuff, it's a Vietnamese noodle soup that is very tasty and you can put all sorts of good stuff in it - but mostly it's broth, beef, & noodles. It is super cheap and right up there with the super cheap sushi (that is probably correctly pronounced "heyitsrawfish") that we eat all the time.
Now I feel sad that I've been pronouncing it wrong for years and those Vietnamese restaurant people were probably laughing at me when I ordered it.
"ahhahahaha that girl, she just said she wants phO - ahahaha, I bet she's a stupid American, let's spit in it"
So sad - especially because I'm not sure you'd notice if anyone spit in it really. Still, it is such noodley goodness. Phuh sounds stupid though...nobody wants to go eat phuh, we want pho.
In other news, if you're up for some light, definitely not safe for work reading - you should check out rfjason's craigslist experiment. It reminds me fondly of my freak of the week days...ahh memories (cue streisand music).
Again, it is not safe for work or for people who don't want to see naked people (men) or dirty emails sent by said naked people (ahaha) or the threats sent by those people when they saw themselves posted on the internets (ahahaha x 100). However, the entire experiment is extremely funny and has made the news everywhere (links to news coverage are at the bottom of that page):
