The best moments in life are not for free. I have Bora as proof of that. but it was worth every cent of my moms money.. hahaha. Bora was great. It was purely and simply the break I needed. The 5 months before that trip were so intense that I had very little sanity left to go on. However, it was perfect that all the sanity I lost I regained in the days that I was on that little island. It must have been the sand, the sun, the beer, the people I was with.. and those blasted shrooms. hahaha.. kidding on the last bit.
Boracay is many things to many people. I find that some lose their minds there, they call it 'temptation island', the freedom, the half naked people and being on your own can be too much for some. People die in Boracay from drug overdoses..others come home to lives that are changed because of stupid things they did.
Believe me, what happens in Boracay does NOT stay in Boracay.. contrary to popular belief.
I found that my instant trip to Boracay with, what 8 boys and counting?, turned out to be completely steady. My long walks with Ray on the beach, sculpting my sandman, throwing sand at the idiots that pee in the water (Idiots really!) were so relaxing. The philosophical breakfast Jb and I had was also a highlight.
(too bad that restaurant didn't serve any meat!) It was great to get to know everyone better, it really makes it easier to get to know people when you are all stuck on an island together.. and when you share a room incidentally. (and when you are drunk half the time!!!)
The music was great too.. in Bomboms that is. Walking down to the Cocomangas area was too reminiscent of Makati's Ponti and like places. I don't know.. loud bass, hip hop, bumping and grinding never seemed to fit in with beaches in my head. but that is my head.. we all know it's kinda.. ahem.
I also took walks alone. Usually in the wee hours of the morn. That was great too. Nothing more liberating than the cool sand under my bare feet, the wind on my face, the seemingly endless sea, and the faint music in the background.Just me being by myself. Letting thoughts flow and time pass.
The best element of it all was really the people I was with. The steadiest bunch of good boys. Haha.. must have been the Opus Dei training..
