Leah has the gun she took from him tucked into her belt, but she doesn't go for it. She doesn't even ready her cane for polefighting. Instead she brings it close and upright, treating it much more like a blind person's cane than what it actually is.
Moving her head slightly, she picks up no other movement. And given how unsteady he founds, he sounds less like a threat and more like someone she should protect.
"[Where are your friends?]" she asks, foregoing the pretence at not being able to speak Spanish.
"[I--]" he cuts himself off. "[No, not again,]" he whispers to himself, the sound of his voice having changed in a way that means he's not looking at Leah anymore.
There's a sudden scrambling sound as he drunkenly trips when he tries to run.
Whatever has scared him isn't immediately audible, just quiet, curiously unsteady footsteps coming closer, and speeding up as they do.
They don't want to alert any more of their kind. Living people are scarce now, and they are jealous of any morsels they can keep to themselves, to keep themselves this side of Death. But the human's voices have carried - not far, but enough. More are coming.
Considering just how unsteady he sounds he must not have been looking all that hard.

"[Around.]" That's so obviously a lie that it's not clear why he'd even bother.

It's a genuine question, not a concerned one.

"[Better than you. I can see.]" Which has obviously really helped.

"[At least you have that. Been eating OK?]"

Then he seems to recover his natural arrogance, "[Where've you been, little girl? Been lookin' for you.]"

Now, though, she straightens, smirking slightly.
"[I've been around. You're not very good at looking.]"

"[Then I might be able to get us picked up,]" she says louder. "[Do you want out of here?]"
