After my head bump a couple of weeks ago my eyesight was seeming a little dodgy and I decided to get my eyes tested. Good thing I did, as in the year and a half since my last sight test my prescription has increased by .75 of a diopter in each eye. In the past I had believed that I could see without glasses and could only tell I had problems when I put specs on. Now it turns out that I couldn't see properly even with the glasses I had.
Being somewhat broke I turned down the £69 charge to have the lenses in my current frames changed by Specsavers, favouring the idea of finding a 2 for 1 deal at Vision Express and having the lenses changed in my old frames when my finances could allow. As it turns out there was no 2 for 1 deal and the lenses switch would cost £99 at Vision Express. In the end we threatened to go back to Specsavers and I managed to get brand new Guess glasses for £141 (instead of the £228 they should have cost). It was still too much for my card however, so Colin had to pay. My new glasses are exactly the same as my old ones but in dark red instead of tortoiseshell. Boring, I know, but the style really does seem to suit me better than any of the alternatives and I know they're comfy. No photos today I'm afraid as I look horrific. I can now see perfectly. Things which are far away are still far away, but they are clear, which I'm not sure I've experienced before. I'm very happy.
We also had a fun half hour in Gap Kids looking for a birthday present for Colin's nephew William who was 2 yesterday. We found a very cute t-shirt in the sale and spent a lot of time holding cute little pairs of trousers up to it to get an outfit together, settled on some simple jeans. Overall a very adorable outfit, but the prices in there are quite shocking. Kids clothes literally cost the same as ladies clothes from H&M or New Look. Decided not to have children as I'd shop us bankrupt.
