I do use this!

Back at home after Expo (we were back on Sunday / Monday morning) but it's taken a while to unwind and relax. The house is less of a bomb site now, which is good as people are coming round in an hour!

Expo was, to be perfectly honest, pretty fucking awesome actually. That's the first event where I've actually enjoyed myself at the time. Normally I feel good afterwards reading the reviews and things, but this time it actually rocked. Eurocosplay was fantastic and everything ran so smoothly. Considering what we had to do - not only the EC contest itself but the stage and workshop areas as well as all the normal things - it is a testiment to the skills of the people involved. Pretty much all reports I've read say Best Expo Ever!!! which is really wonderful.

My work this time was mainly split between two areas, backstage at the actual events and workshops during the day, along with helping out on the desk and answering queries / running between people when necessary. (It was great, people kept asking me questions like I was organised, and generally I could answer them too!)

The EC backstage was the best pre-masq atmosphere I have ever been in. Everyone was so lovely, and so calm (any who has seen me before a masq knows I'm often on the verge of going totally to pieces). I made rocky road and we fed that to anyone we could which probably helped - go chocolate powers. Doing my support I didn't get to watch most of the show, but I did what the last act and when she set off her giant party popper, I burst into tears. That moment just summed up all the beauty and the magic and the effort that everyone had spilled out and I think it will be a memory that stays with me for a very long time. Everyone did proud.

During the workshops I got to help small children make flowers. It was nice to do things with some of the younger expo goes (think most of my vistors were ten and under). It also felt really nice to have something I could do well and show others. This is not something that happens often to me.

I can't thank our helpers enough - particularly Jake, Andy and Lou for running the stage, and Andy and Rackham for keeping me company on the Friday evening while other people were off partying. But everyone was amazing and I owe you all massive hugs and cookies and other nice things.

Didn't get to party it up so much this event, no cocktails in Foxes for example, but I did get to have dinner with Goldy, who is lovely and discover a nice little Japanese restraunt behind the Ibis for a lovely meal of sushi and raucous conversation!

Weekend wasn't perfect. I appear to have a blindspot for hotels, for example. This is pretty epic fail, espcially when you are navigating. I think it's probably part of my dyslexia, and I have been noticing some effects have been worse recently which really scares me, espcially as changes in circumstance mean I really ought to pull my finger out and finally get my driving licence.

But mostly, it was a pretty damn good time.
