I don;t think its been officially announced yet, but we'll be running a Cosplay Roadshow at Memorabilia on Sunday only - that's at the Birmingham NEC on 22/11/09. If you have an idea for an event, or are coming along and want to run something then do get in touch. The first one was good fun, but I'm hoping for more than the hundred-ish people we ( Read more... )

Thanks for a great masquerade :)
The new format was super smooth. I know the lighting was a bit experimental, but marking the sweet spots on the stage would be super handy next time.

It was our first go with it. One idea was for a follow on spot, but that doesn't really work for groups. Testing and marking sweet spots is exactly what we're going to feedback on, I'm there early on Fridays so I'll be able to work with them to sort this.

I thought initially the problem was it looked good for the audience but cameras were getting adversely affected... but it seems that actually the front of the catwalk looked really bad :(

Can I ask who it was that decided to use Tubular Bells II for the parade music in the masquerade? Cos whoever it was, I need to thank them for reminding me of how much I love Mike Oldfield :D

No worries- actually, they were just meant to be the 'neutral' tracks and we ended up using it too much (including the one with a voice over on Saturday, whoops!) but I completely failed to get the 'aggressive', 'bouncy', and 'romantic' tracks ready so we used just tubular bells on Sat. Sunday had some others thrown in.

Well, having just watched a video of it, I note you used "Altered State" for the Street Fighter group, and for that I applaud you - excellent choice there (I was buzzing too much at the time to notice what it was)!

It's amazing... considering how many helpers the cosplay desk has nowadays (yay) it's just Sod's Law that there was very few there when you needed them!
But well done for getting it all together :)

Yeah, it's like you look around and everyone's gone!

For the most part we had a great number of people, and of course a lot of helpers were actually in the Sunday masquerade. I suppose its not really a surprise- people work the desk with friends then go to grab food with friends.

The new format should mean I won't need as much 'do not disturb' time in future but I made a few boo boos in the run up to the Expo which then needed fixing.

We all pulled together well though overall. Once more with feeling- thanks to all of you (including the better halves Leena and Ailsa) who gave us the support that we need to pull an event like the Expo Masquerade together!

Joe! Was wonderful to see you again this expo and was good fun helping out on the Sunday. I was going to offer if you wanted me to help out with the music selection, I have a ton of stuff and well I thought I'd just mention it, in case people start complaining. Also if you need an help with the cosplay roadshows drop me a line as I will be more than happy to help out.

Hey hey~

Cheers for the help on Sunday. I may peruse your music selection at some point and while I have loads there's always more. The real issue was my lack of time leading up to the event -_-;

The more the merrier with the Roadshow. We're particularly looking for people who have event(s) in mind that they want to run. It'll be (as I understand it) on the Sunday of Memorabilia at the NEC, but it still hasn't been officially announced and I'm not sure what we're getting in the way of room, timings, etc. Will shout out again when I have more info.
