is this an existential problem of self-representation online? or is it a spiritual growing up in self-expression with the internet as a means of communication? is it a realization that no one cares how much my parents keep fighting, but they might be interested in learning about PlumpyNuts or in a more eloquent fashion, how my parents fighting has physically impeded me from believing any relationship can exist without a sort of fight? or do i just want attention?

the subject of all these "musings": blogs

everyone's got one, and while my livejournal has been taking a different turn in posts that people may actually find interesting, i've been wondering if the medium, or simply the URL, is something of the past, that a clever internet-er, like i, should just jump onto the blog bandwagon.

but while i contemplate the switchover, what my blog will consist of: cocktail recipes, new music, DIY, social activism, how ridiculous politics are, all with some leftist inklings. i'd like to attach here some blogs that i've come across in the recent months that are actually quite enjoyable, that i do care what these people are writing about, and that they have many readers is beginning to demonstrate really the power of words, and how the internet is changing this world, and making it indeed smaller, and how that's kind of cool.

"teacher by day, and semi-hopeless romantic by night. read the chronicles."
"the often convoluted world of New York city education reform, a topic whose political gravitas headlines every major newspaper nearly everyday. Ed reform is the topic in New York right now, with battles taking place everywhere from classrooms in Harlem, to the front steps of city hall, to the editorial pages of The New York Times. This strange, stressful and confusing world can only be compared to something as fucked up as New York's not-so-underbelly gay scene. The setting of Hells' Kitchen and Chelsea gay bars sets the stage for a world frighteningly so unlike and desparate (yet, just as confounding) as the comparatively tight circles of urban educators that exist in New York.
A life of interacting with teachers, politicians, gay investment bankers and special ed 8 year olds sounds like heaven to me."
- the writings of my good friend, rob, who's doing TFA in harlem and living in the east village. he's only written one post b/c he's busy writing lesson plans, but if he ever remembers he has this, i have no doubt the entries will be great.
