I will say Crouch redeemed himself in my eyes, with his header into the goal for the first goal. Gerrard scored our second goal with a nice longer shot, straight into the back of the net.
I do feel bad for T&T, especially since their goal was null and void, but hey, offside, is offside :)
Overall England needs to play way better. Thankfully they will go forth with this win, no matter what the next game brings, but I don't see them lasting much longer.
A little issue I have with all the hype over the T&T team. Yes, they are the smallest country to qualify, yes it's their first time qualifying, and yes they played well holding England off. BUT most of the team plays either in the US or the UK. It's not like they came out of nowhere to hold a powerhouse of football off. Everyone makes it sound like it's a miracle *laugh*
Actually, one of the things I love the most about the World Cup is that it's so multinational. There are players on the US team that will head back to the UK to play for their English team once it's over, and English players who have played for MLS teams here in the US. Players on the England team are now playing with each other, instead of against each other, and in certain matches they are now playing against regular season team mates, who went home to play for their home country.
Okay, I'm off to be productive. The match was the only thing scheduled for the morning/early afternoon part of my day!
