2.5 WEEKS UNTIL TORONTO!!! Wheeeeeeeeeee!!

So the internship here has been treating me well! this last week i graduated from unpaid --> paid intern which was pretty exciting, and also took place on the same week as tax-free week (and there goes the little money that i earned... no i'm not that bad, only white strappy sandals from steve madden! $29.50!)

For those of you curious about what the US-Asia Institute does you can go to the website that i recently messed up, www.usasiainstitute.org. One of the main activities we did this summer was arrange for three delegations of congressional staff to go to three different parts of china, NE china (heilonjiang province) Fujian and Inner Mongolia for two weeks. Since the other program director was fired and the other intern away for the bulk of it all, i definitly was kept busy. But goodness, God blesses you in super-surprising ways! As though meeting a lot of incredibly influencial people around Washington and getting some money and having a general good time wasn't enough, I found out today that next year they're also going to be sending three groups (this was the first summer they sent three) and they want ME to lead one of them! It would be an incredible experience, me with all the Congressional Staff meeting senior level government officials and dignitaries from China and seeing Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong (where all the groups go) and whatever province/region that trip focuses on. I can't believe that they would ask me to lead a group when usually it's the much cooler, more accomplished people from the board or trustees or advisors or whomever that lead these trips. I nervous that for some reason it won't work out though, or that if i lead the trip i do a sloppy job since i'm rather... scatter-brained, but for now i'll just be flattered either way! I should also brush up on my lame chinese
