Hello, my lovelies!
How are you all? After my last mildly panic-filled post, everything has been really rather dandy - so I thought I should tell you!
Not that anything has changed, particularly. I suppose it is just your outlook, innit? MY outlook has been drastically changed by FINALLY having a meeting with my main supervisor - only the second one since I started, with no others, as my second supervisor doesn't answer his emails either! But it all went off without a hitch: had a lovely chat, she'd read the first few pages of my literature review and liked it, and she was pleased with my ideas and has told me to start writing my first chapter for the upgrade. AND she also confirmed that I will be one of the few teaching from September!!! (I have yet to fully compute this, as it seems scary so I shan't think about it just yet, but on the whole I believe it to be a very good thing, so hurrah!)
It's all finally started to come together a little bit, which is GREAT because I was beginning to worry it was never, ever, ever going to happen. It's just so huge! But I have finally made a quantifiable start! :D
Have been having funtimes, too. Last weekend, we all went up to Leeds to see Cat, who has just finished her uni degree up there - sun was shining, and we all got very high and went to see Iron Man 3. A lovely weekend, by all accounts! Aside from that, I have been out lots and lots, and working very hard as well, so am a bit knackered, but that can't stop as from this weekend (well, Thursday, actually), I begin my series of naughty summer holidays. Going to North Wales this long weekend to stay in a shed by the sea (my favourite kind of holiday!), then the following weekend Matt is here for a swanky wedding (my first of this year! *g*), then as soon as he goes I have to sneak in a trip up to Glasgow (genuinely for work), from which I get back to London at 12am, only to have to leave it again at 4am on a bus to Glastonbury! After that, it quietens down for a bit... but shall be going to Manchester to see Maxine Peake in a play, home to Northumberland for my birthday week, then to New York and, a couple of weeks after, to Spain for Anais' birthday at the end of August! Effin nora, she's a lucky girl!
It is all disgustingly ridiculous and terribly exciting and, as usual, I don't regret ANY OF IT... But I foresee madness in my future, as I desperately try to write a chapter between all of these things! :D
Other than that, I have been doing what everyone has been telling me to do for YEARS now, and been watching Misfits, which I love. Am onto series 3 now, and although the quality isn't quite so good, Joe Gilgun (plays Rudy) has just turned up, and I have serious sexy problems about that boy, so am still enjoying it. He's hysterical, as well, and his character is so great - all bluster and bravado and hurt feelings. I want him to the be the new northern Doctor Who!
Also, am reading Paul Auster's New York Trilogy and rapidly deciding he is my boyfriend. I love it so.
These are my only thoughts.
