Russian ancestry and language
I was looking into the demographics of notorious Fair Lawn, NJ, which has one of the greatest concentration of Russian or Russian speaking population. I found these numbers very curious. 22.7% of its residents five years old and above primarily speak Russian at home, while only 14.5% of Fair Lawn residents identified themselves as being of Russian ancestry. Is it due to the breakup of the Soviet Union? Or are we more willing to speak Russian than identify ourselves as Russian?
