New York City

I'm currently in a LJ RP, and the character I play is Arhu from Diane Duane's Feline Wizards books, The Book of Night With Moon and To Visit The Queen. Arhu is one of said feline wizards, and part of a worldgate technician team that works in Grand Central Station. Did I mention that this is urban fantasy, and based in NYC?

Well, I'm currently in NYC (actually, leaving it right now), but last night and this morning I've been looking all around myself at the city, and thinking, "So this is where he lives. This is where he works. How would he see what I'm looking at right now?"

It's a fascinating mental exercise, trying to look at the world the way a cat (even a magically-inclined one) might. You look at places and realize how small a cat is, and thus how much larger everything must be to them. But there are also new possibilities offered in it - while I'm stuck in slow traffic in this tunnel, there's a walkway off to my left that he could trot unconcernedly along. Or if he doesn't want to be that conspicuous, and doesn't want to go invisible, there's a curb and a safety rail to my right that's more in shadow, and plenty wide enough for a cat.

What would your world look like?
