So the wig shop in Poughkeepsie has jack-all in terms of wigs that I can use, and the lady there didn't seem particularly interested in putting forth too much effort to help me. I mean, she was nice, but she didn't exactly do much. Of course, it might have been the fact that I was a white woman, of middle-upper class, in a neighborhood that...wasn't so great. I get the feeling that there may have been a little "Ha ha, look at her trying to get anything done." Oh well, I'll make an early-morning run to Kingston tomorrow. I know the place there is awesome.
Speaking of wigs, I'm after three: the one I severely doubt I'll find is a tri-colored, black-purple-green wig. If I'd thought about this and started it sooner, I might have made a try at making one myself. Or at least possibly custom ordering it. And unfortunately, wigs don't dye well. I might splurge the money to buy one made of real hair and dye that (and fortunately, I still have the dye I tried to use last year), or I might just half-ass the dye on the synthetic wig I used last year. It wasn't too bad. I'll just have to be careful not to transfer the purple onto the green to turn it orange again. *shifty eyes*
The second wig I'm looking for is a plain silver wig, of any length (though I'd like it to be longer), and any style (though I'd prefer it straight). I'm also going to need a black washable marker and some fabric paint (both of which I have) for that fun little half-ass cosplay. And if that doesn't work out, I can just wear one of my cosplays twice.
Last wig is a shoulder-length, semi-curly red-haired wig. That shouldn't be too hard to find. Then I just need a pair of black fingerless gloves (or black gloves I can cut the fingers off of) to finish off the outfit.
This evening is to be spent playing with power tools. It'll be awesome. Also, finessing Helen's shirt to attach the black-purple-green patchy front onto an actual shirt, so I'm not running around showing off my bra like last year. ^^;; And if I can get one of those awesome water globes with glitter in it, so much the better! She can have her crystal ball!
*runs off to hack wood apart and tape it back together now* =DDD
If I can, I'll see about taking pictures once everything's together so that people can see what I'll look like at the con! I might end up taking them at Jenn's. Heading down there tomorrow. (Thus the reason why the run up to Kingston will be in the morning.)
