King Ranch Chicken With Mushroom Sauce

Filling: 3 ½ lb chicken; water; 12 flour tortillas; 8 oz shredded cheese; 1 can or 2 fresh tomatoes, diced or 1 can Rotel tomatoes

Sauce: ¾ jar picante sauce; 2 cans cream of mushroom soup; 1 pkg sliced white mushrooms; ½ tbsp garlic powder (optional)

Boil chicken till done. Slice 6 tortillas into strips & layer on the bottom of a large, deep pan. Take ¼ c. of broth from the chicken & pour over tortillas. Chop the chicken & layer ½ of the chicken on top of the tortillas. Mix all sauce ingredients together. Add ¼ - ½ c. chicken broth to sauce. Mix. Pour ½ of sauce over the chicken & then top with ½ the cheese & ½ tomatoes. Repeat, starting with tortillas & ending with cheese. Bake covered with foil for 30 minutes @ 350°F or till done. Uncover and let stand 10 minutes (or it will be too juicy).
