GOOD LORD THE INTERNET FINALLY WORKS.

Aug 21, 2006 22:08

Hello hello. I have been at this school for five days and this is the longest I've been able to be on the Internet yet. (And the only time wireless. Hello!) I have much to tell but can't even express myself coherently, so I will go by old standards and make a list.

Things Which Have Happened in the Past Five Days:
. Went two days with no more than two servings of vegetables per day.
. Have been very dehydrated.
. Rode a bus two and a half hours to go white water rafting in West Virginia with my peer group. Our raft leader was named Ben and he lives in a tent eight months of the year. He was super cool.
. Got wicked, horrible, wretched, agonizing sunburn on the tops of my knees. I am not kidding, it hurt so badly until, say, yesterday. (Rafting was Friday.) They are still very red but don't really hurt anymore.
. Got tanned on my hands, of all places.
. Due to my sneakers being soaking wet from riding rapids and swimming in the New River, on Saturday I had to wear flip-flops all day (my shoes: one pair sneakers, one pair flip-flops for the shower, and four pairs dress shoes). Due to the construction of these flip-flops, developed horrid blisters on both feet. My mother advises me to let them get some air tonight. Augh. I walk funny now.
. Succeeded in being late for a meeting and failing to attend a tech help session which was apparantly scheduled for me. Didn't know about the latter and thought the former was a casual come-as-you-may deal. Oops. Guess I'm not so reliable, Dr. O.
. I love my Kashi cinnamon wheats cereal. (Think Frosted Mini Wheats, but cinnamon, and even tastier.)
. Met a girl who also loves Kashi, is going to study karate in Japan after she gets her black belt, and despite looking very European is apparantly one-fourth Lebanese and descened from a shiek. Tres cool.
. Also, she's in every single one (all three) of my required freshman courses. Tres weird.
. I can't use alt tags on this computer and it makes me sad.

I finally was online long enough to access the forms I needed to print for communications class tomorrow. Yes. Also, tonight I auditioned for The Importance of Being Earnest. So much fun. A fellow whose name I do not remember read with me for Chasuble and Miss Prism, and then for Algernon and Cecily. The second was far more fun, but I think it's because they chose the more boring Chasuble/Prism exchange. I want horticultural references and sly references to the temptation of celibacy, dagnabbit! But yes, it was fun. The fellow observing our audition kept cracking up during Algernon and Cecily (for those familiar with the play, their first exchange, about his "going to Australia," reforming himself, blah blah). And when other people laugh, I laugh, so I was giggling behind my paper. I was about to say, "But yes, it was fun," but then I realized I said that already. The sentiment is there, though.

Anyway. I am very hungry and still have about half of my communcations homework to do. I am off to eat a bowl of that cereal, take a shower, and finish this work. Opposite of bonjour, kiddos.
