Went to see the Exquisite Bodies exhibition at the Wellcome Collection; here is the summary:

In the 19th century, despite the best efforts of body snatchers, the demand from medical schools for fresh cadavers far outstripped the supply. One solution to this gruesome problem came in the form of lifelike wax models. These models often took the form of alluring female figures that could be stripped and split into different sections. Other models were more macabre, showing the body ravaged by 'social diseases' such as venereal disease, tuberculosis and alcohol and drug addiction.

We sneakily took some images (fair enough, the exhibition was free - I dislike having to pay a ridiculous amount for things and being told I'm unable to take photographs) that didn't come out very well but the galleries on the site are pretty decent, actually.

They don't make them like they used to.

Upstairs was the Medicine Man exhibition, which was also pretty amazing.

Chastity belt..

Beautiful Momento Mori, used to remind that death is always around the corner.

The other day I did a shoot in a latex Lacing Lilith corset (THIS ONE to be precise) and I had it done up so tightly that after about an hour my ribs felt like they were bruising (considering I don't wear corsets, I think I did quite well). I don't even want to THINK of what this brass corset would do to a human.
