Well we were at the pub when we found out, celebrating Anthony's birthday. The DJ announced it, a few girls cried and they kept playing Michael Jackson songs... but other than that everyone was still really normal (not that I expect everyone to give a shit), so none of us believed it. Got home at around 1am and watched the news. First of all, I'm just as saddened by the news as everyone else, I just absolutely HATE the glorification of dead celebrities. I find it less respectful for everyone to suddenly change their mind about a person/become their biggest fan just because they have died, and not for any other reason. People on the news kept saying things such as "music's biggest loss in the past 10 years" and I kept shouting "WHAT ABOUT JAMES BROWN!?" Without Brown, and others like him, there wouldn't BE a Michael Jackson. After thinking a bit more I can actually answer my own question and that is that Jackson was the King of POP, and pop is not funk. Pop is something that the majority can enjoy, hence the popularity. He injected funk into pop.. sneakily, so most people didn't even realise. But pop is what he was best at and he was an icon (rightfully so) but this doesn't mean that music has lost something vital; he was getting on anyway, and unlikely to release/perform anything NEAR as good as his stuff in his prime. I hate to compare him to Prince but if it were the other way around, I would be mostly devastated because Prince is still musically active, and is still likely to produce something just as good as his past albums. Of course I would also be devastated because he is my idol, and I can therefore understand how people are feeling right now.

I would say, at least he can rest in peace now, but the media is still going to hound him even in death.

I was meant to go to Thorpe Park (theme park) with the girls today, but I don't exactly enjoy being thrown about in the air at the best of times, especially not with 5 hours sleep under my belt. I'd probably snap at anyone that even vaguely patronised or mocked me about not wanting to go on rides, which seems to happen every time I go to places like that. I don't even like elevators.

Here is the shoot from yesterday: jessicadrue in a Boobie Trap corset!
I actually managed to get a studio (shock, horror). Please comment and respect the model :D
